Yeah I can definitely see how day trading exclusively S&P 500 companies is pretty dang safe. I just don't have the cash flow to do so. The amount of blue chip stocks I would be able to buy with the amount of money I set aside each month for post-tax investment would not be worth it.

Ya, I have about 100k in my trading account, mostly held in cash

Risk can be mitigated not unlike something I just did with Facebook

Was on a 3 month high of 281 and dropped to 266, so I bought 20k worth looking for a quick 2-3% recovery by the next day of $5-$7

Went down the next week to $254, so I bought 20k more, making my breakeven point at $260

Sold this week when it hit $270, so all in all I made $1500 on it in about a week and a half, felt pretty low risk but I needed decent capital to make that money

Got into 30 shares of Tesla on Friday when it was $790. It's got me $750 as of now and I'll sell if it hits $825-$830 for a quick payday
