So was Winnipeg wrong about Roslovic? Or is this a flash in the pan?
- BetweenTheDots

That is what I was thinking last night. Roslovic looked better than Laine, who was supposed to be the prize in that deal. It looks like Winnipeg gave up a lot for Dubois. Dubois better perform for the Jets.
Too bad Bowman did not get in on the bidding for him when he was available because it would not have taken a whole lot to get him earlier in the season.

Geez I forgot,

Murphy sucks, he can t skate
Strome sucks, he can t skate
Highmore sucks, all he can do is skate
JC sucks because he is trying to develop kids, and Q has a better record this year.

I am sure I am missing 20 more.

Hasn't the board decided Murphy sux?

I would love to see Highmore play again vs Boston. He really got under Marchand's skin. I think they had a fight, too. Would havevto be next season barring a surorisr playoff match this season.

Changing subjects

With the new management in Pittsburgh there will be changes if for no other reason for the Penguins to retool. Up front they need a top young talent besides Guenzel. I think they trade both Letang and Malkin for draft choices. The Penguins have not been enamored with their goaltending this season. They do not have much in the farm system and three of their stars are paid too much and are getting long in the tooth. I would never trade Crosby but Letang and Malkin would strongly suggesthat trading at least one of them

Highmore will not be on the team next time Hawks play Boston which at the earliest will be next year.

As a CBJ fan, its hard to say, but we played awful last night and still won. It doesn't help that Werenski is on IR for us, and Jones is playing 25-30 minutes a night right now, which is why he did not look good last night.

You Hawks fans have some good times ahead, your team looks much better than I though they would be. As for the CBJ, they haven't played a good game all year except for the one game they beat Tampa at home this year. It's so bad we made Nashville look good this year. You guys need to enjoy watching your team grow and improve this year.

Sadly, both the Hawks and CBJ will be in the lottery. When teams below and around them have 3-4 games in hand and are one or two points behind or ahead there's little hope for getting in. Good luck to you guys except when we play you.

1. Zad sucks trade him.
2. deHaan sucks he's slower than Zad trade him.
3. Soderberg sucks, waive him to the cab squad.
4/5. Trade the Mark's brothers.
6. Boqvist sucks send him to Rockville.
My head hurts after 6.

Who was it who said Roslovic could be the steal in that trade? Was it Wiz?

Hello, Sizzle Chest. Like you, I'm really enjoying the kids. Mostly the tenacity. I suspect, though, that a pretty solid wall is upcoming. Many of these kids are going through the NHL grind for the 1st time. Mitchell has never played a pro season and he's jumping into the fire. On top of that, this season, while shorter, is condensed. Hopefully moving guys in and out of the lineup will help.

I know you tend to get all wild riding the emotional roller coaster; just trying to keep you on an even keel.

Lanky had a tough night, let’s see how he bounces back. Every goalie has a tough night now and then, the good one’s bounce back. That said would not be surprised to see Subban Sat. This might be the first time Lanky has played so many games in a short period of time.

Definitely a growing pains type of game. What I like is the mistakes were mostly youthful exuberance than any team melt down, being overwhelmed.

Liked that JC didn’t “punish” mistakes and let the player work through them. It might of cost the team a point or 2, but is worth much more in the long run. That being said, I assume Walmark will be taking Highmore’s spot on Sat. Lazy penalty, that he should of known better. At full strength, Highmore is taxi squad fodder, Hagel makes Highmore unnecessary.

Even giving up 6 goals, the defense looks so much better than last year. They did miss Murphy and his 20 plus big minutes he plays.

I tried to say something like that a couple days ago. You said it best. Totally agree.

Sure seemed strange that you and your buddy got off on mockingly criticizing JC last night after the Hawks lost last night. Whatever I'm just going to follow Ogi's troll chart going forward

Strange? Not sure what you mean.... Anyway, some passionate fans here strongly dislike JC, but haven't been able to strut their stuff lately. Last night was their chance. Some other passionate fans, who don't hate JC, were taking jabs at the haters. This happens on internet message boards. So, I don't get what you're having a sad about.

And just to clarify; I have no buddies here, nobody likes me. Well, except for Edzo, but he's MIA.

Jesus Christ. If they lose 4 or 5 in a row you'll be back on the ledge as always. This team still lacks talent at forward. They work hard is the only difference from the last couple years

Agree, they need more high-end forward talent (Toews and Dach would help). It was noticable last night, now that Columbus has two new top sixers.

It's a tough loss for sure, but there was a ton of puck luck for the Jackets last night. Blackhawks have to learn to play better in their own end, to many times in the game they struggled to get the puck out of their own zone with possession. So i throw Lanky back out there, let's see if he has a short memory. Gave up 2 PP goals and a shorty and BJs still had their hands full with us.

Was it me or did Seth Jones look terrible last night?

- BetweenTheDots

Of the Hawks goalies, Lankinen is the one to have the shortest memory and ability to bounce back strongly. I would expect him back in net on Saturday.

And yes, Jones was not good much of last night's game. He was directly responsible for at least 2 if not 3 of the Hawks goals. Like Lankinen's game, clunkers once in a while are to be expected.

I would still take Jones in a heartbeat.

Nice write up Theo. We had too many defensive breakdowns and Lanky struggled as well. Like 66 mentioned, young teams will have these kind of games, and for 57 minutes it was very entertaining, even with all the giveaways. Is it coincidental that we struggle defensively w/o Murphy in lineup? I think not. Murphy is a very steady RD with size, not fancy, but I’d like to see him stick around. Let’s face it, De Haan will probably be moved, Seabrook’s situation does not look good, can’t just have Keith as veteran D, and he’ll be 38 going into next season. In my opinion Zadorov played his third straight decent game, at least I didn’t notice any blatant giveaways from him, and saw him take a good angle on a couple of occasions.
- Angotti

Thanks, Angotti.

I would have to agree that Murphy sticks around unless a no brainer trade is on the table. de Haan is likely a TDL deal for draft capital.

Zadorov is a wild card but I also like what Bowey is bringing so far. Can't see both of them being on the Hawks next season. Another factor is one is a leftie and the other a rightie.

Then there's the expansion draft requirements which will help dictate who stays and who goes.

Really liking Kurashev too and another guy who is just 21. There was a sequence last night where he lost the puck just inside the BJ's zone and immediately re-stole the puck and was back in their zone.

Agree on Hagel. Just a matter of time. Was really hoping it would be last night.

- HawkintheD

Kurashev and Hagel are both really adept at getting after the puck after losing it, oftentimes winning it back. The difference is Hagel has a frenetic pace to his game while Kurashev is more subtly effective.

Yes, a young inexperienced team will lay a stinker like this once in a while. To be expected. A key test for the young inexperienced coach will be how the team comes out in the rematch Saturday.

In any case, last night was good entertainment value for 55 minutes.

You again?

What a surprise.

Can’t come on here and say something positive about the Hawks/hockey related without GPHawksfan coming out of the woodwork to bash me. What a miserable (frank).

“Back on the ledge as always”....it’s funny cuz most people accuse me of being too optimistic. Yet in your little world Im always jumping off the ledge....still waiting for that to actually happen in real life. Ur imagination doesn’t count as reality.

I’d LOVE to meet u in person one day and have a niiiice talk. Plz lord let that happen. U always have so much to say while hiding behind ur keyboard...I’m just curious to see what you’d have to say in person...maybe one day I’ll get lucky.
