if only there was some form of a "rule book."

I guess Hyman interfered with the interferer and that called for the embellishment penalty... Can't purposely try to block the blocker from blocking you, I guess

- PatC80

In Edmundson's defence, he did drop his stick 3 seconds after Hyman fell, and he held his hands up to make that "what, me?!?!?!" gesture.

Hyman shouldn't have ripped the stick out of his hands with his legs.

Really he should have been called for holding the stick with his crotch and knees while skating

- TheMussel

Bryan McCabe says there shouldn't have been a penalty on Edmundson at all.

Yeah it's a bit of a pickle. Players so rarely do that when they get called for real penalties, how is one to know?

That is a worse call than I thought, this is what happens when a player has his stick between another guy's legs.

Now if they want to say it was there inadvertently, then maybe let the call go, but embellishment is (frank)ing ridiculous.

- Aetherial

You know what sucks most with this call?

If Hyman doesn't try and go for the puck (knowing full well he has a stick between his legs), Edmundson gets away with obvious interference.

And if he does try and go for the puck knowing full well he'll fall, he gets called for embellishment.

Basically, it's encouraging interference in the game.

Marner was definitely emboldened by it

For what it's worth.

That also an interference.

I used to play beer hockey with my brother.

He used to take the most blatantly obvious penalties. Like, tackle a guy in front of the net kinda poop.

And then he would argue all the way to the penalty box, as everyone on our bench would be screaming at him to shut the frank up.

Every single time.

Oh Lord, I'm getting worked up just typing this.

I honestly don't know if that's interference in the NHL.

Do I think it should be interference? Hell yes.

But you know, the way the NHL is, Anderson was the last guy to touch the puck, blah blah blah, establishing position going into the corner, old school, let the boys play...

I honestly have no idea.

It was a makeup call for missing Tavares roughing up Weber's elbow.

I know the feeling.

And for what it's worth, I've seen over 1000 players argue with the ref about a call.

I've never seen one change his mind.

Pretty sure it was an unsportsmanlike or delay of game for getting his blood all over the place

This "managing the game" stuff has gotten out of hand. It is a guarantee that even up calls will happen in a close game, or a game when one team has had more penalties.

They seem to want to be sure that no one can blame the refs because the calls were even. They are missing the whole point. The NHL is far worse about this than any other league including basketball.

I heard the Leafs training staff couldn't get the blood off the jersey - so they're just going to burn it in the Nassau Coliseum parking lot.

I'm just glad Weber didn't hurt his elbow falling on the ice.

Thank god something slid under it to absorb the blow.
