Huberdeau is maybe the most underrated player in the league right now but, to be fair, I can understand why some may have had Nylander rated higher in their first few seasons.

Anderson is currently shooting at an unsustainable rate of 23.1% which is more than double his career average. The wheels are ready to fall off.

- mjones242

I don't think anyone believes Josh Anderson will finish with 40 goals in 56 games if that's what you mean.

He's a 25-30 goal scorer powerforward in an 82 game season. I don't think he'll ever be more than that.

Which is fine.

Dubas just signed Brodie and now he's getting rid of him? Can't see that happening. Nylander will likely be a Leaf as long as Dubas is GM. It's been 4 years of "let's trade Willy" and he's still a Leaf. Kerfoot is expendable. I'll agree with that.

Freddy is likely gone. But when you say "get a goalie" it's not as easy as it seems. Getting a quality goalie to replace Freddy will be harder than you think. Just think of all the duds the Leafs had in net after Belfour and before Freddy.

Signing a guy like Hamilton means Holl is gonzo. It also would make things really difficult when Rielly is up for contract renewal... unless you let him walk?

Yeah, I don't see how they make Hamilton work.

so good and realistic fits for that winger role (pending UFAs on team that might not be in a playoff spot come deadline)

- Heinen
- Marcus Sörensen
- Palmieri
- Nick Foligno
- Iafallo
- ??

- MaximusAurelius

Palmieri is great ..Tanner Pearson might be an option.

It's not what I meant but, to clarify, he's only scored above 20 goals once in his career.

His career S% * shots/season seem to indicate he's actually a 15-20 goal scorer. I guess he's in his prime years so maybe he's more than that -- but he's also injury prone, so who knows?

It's worked out so far but he and Toff burned out the gate and once they cool off and normalize... uh oh.

I'll give it to you anyway - nice one!

One would hope that the Leafs repeated 1st round exits would convert them into playoff hungry beasts.

Maybe this is the year?

- mjones242

I don't blame Leaf fans for being excited. I'd qualify it with cautious optimism. But no team is unbeatable. Not even Tampa when they get Kucherov back. People forget the Isles took them to game 7 in the ECF. If Columbus wins that 5OT game 1 the playoffs might've been a different story.

My point is you can make 2 arguments. One on why the Leafs can win the Cup this season. One on why the Leafs won't win the Cup this season.

Mr Sir was correct on all accounts 😉

The problem with Palmieri is the 14 day isolation period.

All well and good. When it comes to my go-to analysts for NHL opinions all of these guys are literally below craig button in my list.

Agreed. Anyone who thinks Winterpeg has the best centres in the Canadian division has really got a good read on things.

Vancouver decided to get rid of their reliable goaltender.

Look what it did to them.

- Scabeh

Vancouver got rid of the goalie that stood on his head last season and in the playoffs...big difference between that and Ander8en,

Not that I'm agreeing here, but wouldn't the pairings in your scenario be:

Brodie-Hamilton
Muzzin-Holl
Sandin-

* Dermott bye bye

I still believe in Demko....

That defense is playing brutal
Myers and Benn are terrible
Hughes is only good offensively
They started Chatfield over Juolevi🤭
Schmidt has disappointed

Tanev was underrated

I think seeing him as a 15-20 goal scorer is a very pessimistic view of his progression.

And aside from his shoulder injury that ruined his last season, I'd say it's a little early to call him injury prone.

It's like people calling Weber fragile because he broke his foot that one time.

4ndersen might not be perfect.

But he might be better than what you're left with.

Like Cam9bell or 11oll.

I thought the Canadian division was supposed to be a tough division? A lot of you really changing your tune now.

Maybe the Leafs and Habs(pending) are just too dominant for this division

It was obvious last season was a fluke due to his injury.

Thankfully GMs and team trainers know a little more about a players injury then the fans....Didnt seem like it hurt his value much.

I view Anderson the same way I view Lucic.

In their prime? One of the most rare players in the league that balances skill with size.

But there always seems to be a cliff in their early 30s that players like that fall off and never seem to recover.

Rick Nash also comes to mind.

In fairness he has missed significant time in 2 of his 4 fulltime seasons. Not to mention his oribtal fracture in 2015-2016.

I have been a big fan since his London Knight days. He has great speed and plays big. However his style of play could lead to a quicker deterioration in his ability. So although I do not think he is paid too much, the term could suck in the end. That being said, you have to take some chances with contracts to be successful. The almost sure things cost you tons of money and term, and often really handcuff you.

With Price and Weber on the books through 2025-26, and Suzuki, Kotkaniemi, and Romanov probably due some big raises in 2022 and 2023. Do you think the Habs face some cap issues starting in 2022?

The Habs were just shutout by a 96 year old back up goalie and beat up on weaker Canucks teams... They are not a dominant team.

Price will suffer some weird jock itch injury in 2023 and then go on LTIR forever.

that's why I said "pending"

The media has (frank)ed with the Habs, they aren't as good as they were made out to be by the media and its showing now.

"Pending" should be replaced with "not even close"
