Various reports:
Kalynuk recalled to taxi squad with Lindholm reassigned to Rockford.
Highmore will slot in for Shaw.
Boqvist is skating again but not ready for games yet.
Lankinen gets the start (no surprise there). |

Even if Boqvist was healthy enough to play, I wouldn't be surprised if Kalynuk gets in a game first and does swimmingly like Mitchell, Beaudin, and Carlsson.
Kalynuk is so composed at both ends. Excellent skating and surgical passing. He's also constantly protecting the slot like Beaudin and knows when to pop out to defend elsewhere while being quick to reset by the goalie. |

Ok, but What does that have to do with his size or style of play? - Ogilthorpe2
Absolutely nothing, I misread/misinterpreted what was being said. Vlassic however, while being tall, is not overly physical like a Zadorov, not that he can't improve that part of his game. Like most kids, he needs to add lbs and muscle. |

Good role model at least:
Madison Bowey said he idolized Niklas Hjalmarsson growing up and skated with Brent Seabrook over the offseason.
He was in Anaheim on a PTO, Chicago showed interested and then a deal got done. #Blackhawks |

Right D, left D, or switch hitter?
Maybe he gets in tonight? |

Two role models. Both absolute warriors. Maybe the time with Seabrook led to the Hawks signing him (in addition to the expansion draft thing). |

Kalynuk can play either side which helps his case. That helps Beaudin and Carlsson, too, as they can play RD as lefties.
Being able to playing RD is a minus for Boqvist.
EDIT: Boqvist was playing LD in practice today opposite of Bowey. It's good to have him develop that flexibility. |

Ben Pope tweets that Murphy will be out 10-14 days - and Shaw is back in concussion protocol. - StLBravesFan
This has to be the end of the line for Shaw. It just has to be.
He had no business coming back this year because of all his concussions and he just got another. He’s a road grade warrior and will be a fan favorite in our hearts. But he just cannot keep playing anymore for his personal health and his family’s. |

I hope that, if doctors tell him to walk away, he listens to them. The mentality you correctly write of has been safely instilled in the next generation of Hawks.
The complicating factor is the CBA. If the independent LTIR docs say he's healthy enough to play, he can't go on LTIR. They would then have about $2.9M against the cap after burying him in the minors (without making him play).
I wish him the best; he gave/gives it his all. |

With the concussion lawsuits that have been filed, and the amount of concussions Shaw has had, my guess is the league doctor would error on the side of caution, then to subject him to yet another blow around the head.

The Arizona Coyotes have "terminated" the contract of assistant general manager Steve Sullivan, who also served as general manager of the Tucson Roadrunners.
Coyotes management also stated that the vacancy will not be filled this season. |

I suspect that, too. However, many here said the same thing after the last one; yet here we are.
It's only concussions and possible CTE. Maybe some early dementia. Nothing serious. |

Head coach Jeremy Colliton, whose playing career was cut short because of concussions, was visibly distraught when talking about the news on Thursday. He also appeared to be angry at how it happened — an unnecessary elbow to the face by Dallas Stars defenseman Joel Hanley that went uncalled.
"It’s the personal part that’s hard to swallow," Colliton said. "Not much to say about it. We've got to professionally do our job and come in here and play hard. We have a good thing going but we have to earn it every day. Part of it is doing it without your full group. We have to do both: feel for Shawzy and get it done anyway."

Mr. Hanley, say hello to Big Z......
On this one, I'm okay with him getting out of position for the big hit. |

I saw the elbow and the concussion is no surprise. One of my favorite players, but it's time. |

Really doubted when he started the season that he would make it that far before his next concussion. Hopefully he does the right thing and hangs it up. |

OK. It's time to move that franchise north of the border to Quebec. The NHL has pi$$ed away enough $ trying to keep them afloat.
BTW "Coyote" in French is...."Coyote". |

Too bad about Shaw, but I feared that it was going to happen sooner or later. IMO it would be foolish for him to come back and put his health at further risk.
Anyway it opens up a spot for Wallmark once he gets his legs back. Maybe Entwistle will get a shot eventually too. |
