Good guys, I assume?
I have 4-3 Jackets. - mohel
No, that was the projected record for the 10 games remaining in February. I see a split against the BJs. |

It’s very unlikely that the COVID-19 virus would be transmitted while playing the game, while at practice, or in the weight room.
Based on their age & health, it’s very unlikely a player would die from the COVID-19 virus.
The goal is to stop the spread into vulnerable populations. For example, Patrick Kane goes out to a restaurant where he contacts the virus and becomes a carrier. Kane’s Mom & Dad come to visit and see the baby. Patrick brings the virus back and infects his parents, who are in a vulnerable population. Patrick is most likely not at risk of death or long term problems. His parents are.
Everything you say in your post is correct. It does leave out an important part of the total picture. - scottak
Well, the league constantly talks about keeping the players safe from Covid. If they want to say they are making players miss games even when they test negative to protect society, go ahead.
The flu vaccine works about half the time. Will we have a Flu Protocol to "stop the spread " next year so Kaner doesn't unwittingly give the flu to someone's Grandma? After all, he has nothing to fear from the flu, but compromised Granny sure does. |

Seems like a reasonable prediction. I'd take that. |

In my alternate reality all that Disney Nasa show, I wonder if we were to go back and have Kevin Hayes like the Hawks organization enough to have signed with them instead of being a greedy lil shAt, how that would have impact the future from that point on.
Where is Barry Allen to frame the time line.
What decisions in terms of personnel would have changed?
would they have pursued Strome, traded Nick Schmaltz elsewhere?
Would they have after winning the third lottery lot, chosen a different position? - wiz1901
Add to that alternate universe not trading Danault in that ill-advised deal that yielded the team nothing that helped in the playoffs. They would have been set at center for some time, assuming they could sign everyone. |

Mr. Hanley, say hello to Big Z......
On this one, I'm okay with him getting out of position for the big hit. - mohel
Ha! That was one of my first thoughts as well. I know it's a risk but feel bad for Shaw and hope he's ok. He's an easy guy to root for. |

Not the point. The flu will be far more deadly than Covid after the Covid vaccine is administered throughout society. The flu vaccine is needed every year and only works about half the time. Why won't we need an NHL Flu Protocol to keep Granny from getting very sick or dying? Is it scale? Are 50-100k flu deaths not important? Once we believe humans had the ability to slow the spread of one virus, aren't we morally obligated to do so for other viruses? |

It's all rhetoric until they actually start mandating stuff. My son is a Trainer at Boston University. They require masks while playing. In Hockey it would be an easy mandate for the league to require the full shields along with the built in mask that is now available. Blah, blah, blah, civil liberties being abused, etc.

To a hockey player? Near nil for both in the short run. Hockey will negatively impact the lives of players down the road far more than Covid will. |

You have Hayes and Danault you alter the results, leading to no Dach, Boqvist, etc.

I agree, although I was trying to trade him yesterday I will always root for him. If he has the right agent he should be set for life. He needs to decide his path forward, and being around and involved with his kids should be his top priority. He’s had a decent career and has his name engraved on the cup twice. At this time hockey should not be at top of his list. |

I love Shaw and his playing style, but at this point I think he needs to retire. You don't mess around with continual head injuries. Just not worth it. |

Depends. If you are 65 or older, much more.
Only NHL player to die from injuries on the ice was Bill Masterton, of the Minnesota North Stars. Mid-60s if my memory is correct. |

Mr. Unicorn Mohel
I concede your earlier point about hockey being very dangerous in and of itself. What's going on with Shaw is a prime example of why.
Of course the deaths from flu are important, and I do believe that the courtesy of wearing a mask when you are sick (like they do in Asia) should be a habit that carries forward after the pandemic.
I do not concede equating the current strains of the flu with COVID. The flu is not as deadly and only about 50% of adults get vaccinated each year. The flu does not seem to have these types of inexplicable and incurable long-term effects for the people who contract it and don't die from it.
https://www.chicagotribun...3p7pxd3tdcjrua-story.html
There are stories everywhere now about formerly very healthy people who contracted COVID, maybe even asymptomatically, who now have lingering, debilitating symptoms.
In fact, there is a 19-yo MN Wild player who is back home in Europe, unable to play because of the lingering effects of COVID:
https://t.co/scvO7BE7vI?amp=1.
Boqvist is supposedly going to need days to get back in shape after going through it. In contrast, many players get and spread the flu every year. Usually, they are either playing through it or back on the ice within a day or two.
You can call it fear porn, but there are many reasons to be concerned about potential long-term fallout from this disease about which we still know relatively little. |

Kalynuk can play either side which helps his case. That helps Beaudin and Carlsson, too, as they can play RD as lefties.
Being able to playing RD is a minus for Boqvist.
EDIT: Boqvist was playing LD in practice today opposite of Bowey. It's good to have him develop that flexibility. - Theo Fox
Boqvist played LD a bit in London with Bouchard. |

Here is a site you can catch games if you are so inclined. Good quality. Just make sure you use an adblock though its not loaded with funky ads or anything. Course if you are coming here, I assume you already have an adblock.

I don't see it as inconsistent. If the Hawks could trade Seabrook's contract, I'd do it in a second. And he's one of my favorite athletes ever.
I tend to agree with your point on retirement. But I hesitate to say what another should or shouldn't do. I wish him the best. |
