Madden just said he’s been told the idea of trading Sid and/or Geno is a non-starter for ownership. Geno likely extended after the season. Letang on the other hand isn’t viewed the same way.
- madmike71

The rumors of Sid getting traded have nothing to do with Ownership. They have to with what Sid reportedly may want to do.

I’m not saying I buy into it, but this has nothing to do with ownerships plans.

This is what I look forward to. A young, hungry team who play as a team (and for one another) and are gunning for their first Cup. Wins aren't as important as the process.

This may rub some the wrong way, but I think this current team is infected with a lack of motivation and staleness.

- Hockey66

There’s 6 players from the last cup. The other 16-18 guys have never won a cup.

There should be no lack of motivation or staleness.

The team constructed just isn’t good enough.

He got moves like Jagr.

Never thought I’d use Maroon Five lyrics in a joke.

I don’t disagree completely, but if the six from the cup have no motivation then that can still cause a problem.

Three of those guys are Crosby, Malkin, and Letang who do not lack for motivation. Rust, G, and Dumoulin don’t really strike me as complacent chumps either. These are our problems in order of magnitude:

1. Letang and Malkin are way off. Malkin is trending well, Letang is still not.

2. Injuries to the blue line.

3. Not enough fire power up front.

4. Coaching.

5. poopty goaltending.

Special Teams could be its own thing but I think it’s equal parts to do with #1 and #4. #1 lies with the players. If Letang and Geno don’t fix themselves then nothing matters. #2 is completely out of anyone’s control. #4 is an easy fix and just takes a hard decision. #5 could be a bigger problem that I’m giving credit for, it’s just tough to gauge exactly how bad goalies are when the team in front of them is dog poop.

#3. Is the issue that we all saw coming during the off season and will be the hardest to fix. With the exception of Guentzel our top 6 wingers are ok, not great goal scorers and Kapanen might not even be ok at it, and the only player in the bottom six with a shot is McCann, who’s really not very good as an overall player. We either need another legitimately good goal scorer or a lot more ok, not great goal scorers. If all the other pieces fall into place, this one will still eventually bite us in the ass.

Not gonna say they’ll be fine, cause I’m not so sure, but average goal tending and average special teams changes this team a lot. The stars probably need to align to become true contenders, but I don’t think they are as bad as the blow it up and start a rebuild crowd think. Things do need to start clicking tho, and soon. A healthy line up would help, but...

I think fixing this team has a lot to do with finding Sid the right wingers, which may be easier than people think considering they don’t have to necessarily be the most talented. Tanev is already here. Find the other one.

How's Ryan been, seemed like he started off hot.
- 668710

He’s a solid middle 6 guy. Scored some flukey goals to start the season.

There was a parlay booster on DC's gambling site for 5+ event parlays. I've got STL, NASH, CHI, PIT, and EDM money lines. $5 to win about $70. Let's go.

Do stats fans still try to poop on the Islanders 4th line? Or did they just stop trying?

Stat geeks will create a "arena humidity complex" stat before the recognize that grit exists.

Now that's the Crosby line that we know and love.

We've been playing well. Good puck possession. Still not getting enough guys to the net.
