Apparently Friedman said that the plan was for Benning to finish out the year here but apparently that might change

Not sure Aquilini is that concerned about the optics. The media went on and on about Green being a lame duck coach and didn't buckle by forcing Benning to give him a new contract.
As I have said, in the past, bring in a new team asap, before Benning and company do something else stupid and allow the new group some time to assess what direction they want to go down.
For all we know, they may keep Green and have him change the style of play, similar to when AV went from a defensive style to a more offensive style.

- Reubenkincade

i think i was being unclear.

what i meant was that if you keep him (or them if including green) until the end of the season, a late season run muddies the water.

if firing him/them is a certainty but the team wins their last 15 in a row, the attitude around the team (from fans to media to FA) might change. if you then fire him, the optics would be that you're firing a guy when the team is playing "like it should."

we know that a few games in either direction changes things drastically amongst the fans/media/ownership in this town. that's what i meant about bad optics.

i'm of the opinion that jb should have been gone before this season so my opinion is not going to change. however, i'm not so sure about others. those optics change.

I think if they lose this Calgary series you have to realistically think about change. For the simple fact you don't want Benning and Weisbrod making any further moves, panic moves that aren't well thought out to save the asses, you want a new administration making better decisions. At least in theory.

Juolevi getting better every game,, Hoglander looks good, unfortunately situation for Bailey, I am feeling bad for Boeser as his linemates look disinterested half the time.
Goaltending isn't the issue in Vancouver, not much else to say, at the moment

- Reubenkincade

The world is going so backwards it's filtering into Hockey lol

Last year OJ was a complete bust and Boeser should be traded for lack of interest. Now Juolevi looks good...Boeser and Hogs have looked great and now Bo, Miller, Petey and Hughes are the ones under fire

Okay, now I understand. I am kinda like lefty and not that smart.
The optics and success of last seasons play-in thingy, may have actually saved Benning from not being let go before this season

I remeber Burkie when asked when his job was on the line if he made moves to try to fix the situation, he said absolutely not.

I don't think the scouts were there last night because it was an open house to pluck players. I have a feeling one player may want out.

Boston needs wingers that can score, makes you wonder why they’re shopping DeBrusk
- Nucker101

Debrusk and Deangelo would fit good here.

Hopefully Aqua is smart enough to see Benning has to go first. They lose this home stand and there's no real way to make the playoffs.

Fire Benning, start a search. Better to have the GM there through the season to evaluate with Seattle and TDL to be sellers.

Let Green ride out the season. When the team is on, they're a fun team to watch. Let the GM evaluate and go from there.

I think they should wait. Changing this minute will present you a short list of candidates as a replacement. Wait until offseason as you first suggested and see who is available . There will be more coaches than Green available after this year.

Some teams that were expected to do lots better like NYR NSH DAL SJ MINN all having slow starts and may make changes. I can see Poille available who was good before but fallen.

I would wait until the offseason.

- VANTEL

I think FA will wait. Was on his twitter feed today and it is littered with #fireBenning lol

Habs lost 8 in a row TWICE lastyear maybe we are the new Habs? lol

I think, from a pure area of cap and contention window, the thought of trading JTM has to be entertained at some point. He'll be 30 when his contract is done in a couple years and be getting a raise over his 5.25. Is that the guy you want to sign to a big contract at that point?

Not saying trade him this year, or at all, just has to be thought out.

they're not forced to do anything so getting rid of him just to do so would be absolutely wrongheaded.

listen to what's out there. if there is a great deal, pull the trigger. if not, he's still a piece of the core.

this doesn't mean that jb has to come out and say that "everybody is on the trading block and is available." what i mean is that whenever another team inquires about ANY player, the response should be, "i hadn't considered trading him but what types of assets would you offer?"

my house isn't for sale but i wouldn't stop anyone from saying a number.

I just sold my condo in yaletown for a killing. Never put it on the market just responded to a request from a realtor who’s buying up real estate for his Hong Kong clients. Nothing’s sacred and always listen to offers!
