I don't think the system fits Green or Schmidts or Edler style of game. All 3, I believe are decent enough defenseman, just none of them should be paid 6 million that they are making right now.
- Reubenkincade

Fair enough. I think it kinda fits Edler. Definitely not Schmidt and maybe not Myers

Like your Tanev rumours?
- Marwood

Pretty much . Nucker and Don are more reliable than Shuk McSween though

There’s different types of leaders, not all of them are just vocal guys. Apparently Tanev goes out of his way to make the young guys feel welcome on the team and probably why he was called the “dad” of the locker room. His actions probably spoke louder than words.

The Flames also apparently don’t have the best locker room chemistry so I’m guessing that’s a key reason why they were interested in signing Tanev.

Yeah, that's my impression. If you talk to guys who have been on competitive teams, sports or other, the dynamics are considerable and complex.

But try and explain that to the simple-minded sports fanatic who can only comprehend singular production like goals, assists, and plus/minus.

How many pro athletes have you talked to for the record? Or is this just more of your usual BS

Talk about simple minds you haven't a clue of the teams farm system and you have said a few times that they are not good.

lol pretty bold statement considering 16 games in...
- LordHumungous

It isn't like he is a 1st year player and I haven't seen him play before. What is bold is awarding rookie of the year trophies before a player plays a game in the NHL or awarding a Norris trophy to a player who can't play defense worth shit.

BS? I think you are barking up the wrong tree Vantel.

All I said was Tanev looks like a guy that the team's core players cared about. Hated to see walk. Never called him a leader. Never even called him a core guy. Just a likable character in the locker room who may have contributed to the team's success.

You took that as an insult to your perspective and then twisted it into that "now he's a leader" comment. Where did that come from?

You know, I think you have been picked on so much on this site that you instantly go into defensive mode as soon as someone has a different point of view.

Do you think I have been picked on by the glory hole gang so much?

It's the internet dude not high school . You and your other snowflakes that run to the other blog to do your female doging about the posters in here .

I can't tell you how many times I laugh when I see you Marwood and one or two others all arrive at the same time to antagonize or attack a poster and gang up on them.

You are the only gang on this website and it is a farce. You are suppose to be grown men and you are a bunch of god damn pussies.

There is a group of you and big deal . I tell you what You get your gang and I will call my gang and ask if I can borrow their wives and we can meet in the park and rumble. FFS grow up.

I asked you who are the professional athletes you have talked to and I called your BS . So how many pro athletes have you talked to and discussed team dynamics with?

As of right now we have 28.1m to sign Demko, EP, Hughes, OJ, Edler(?), replace Benn, Chatfield, Sutter, Pearson, Gaudette and Bailey

Demko 4 years 3m = 25.1
Ep 3 years 7m = 17.1
Hughes 3 years 7 = 10.1
OJ 1-2 years at 1 = 9.1
Lind replaces Gaudette 1 year 900k = 8.2
PodK replaces Pearson at 925k = 7.275

7.275 to sign Edler, and replace Sutter and Benn as regulars, then Bailey and Chatfield as 13th forward and 7th D. That's if EP and Hughes get that much(I think they will)

I miss-spoke, meant this year.

We can probably add Jake, his 2.5 AAV (1 goal, 1 point in 12 games) to the list as well.

- Codes1087

he is probably traded.

unless its a debrusk-type player (reclamation or change of scenery type), I am not sure it happens till maybe the off-season.

I'm not going to even address your insecurities so let's just keep it to hockey talk for now.

So what's this pro athlete nonsense you keep talking about? Can you clarify?

You said if you talk to guys on competitive teams. I hope you don't consider a 13 year old on a soccer team as reliable source .I would hope you are getting your statement from pro athletes.

I asked what pro athletes have you had a conversation about the dynamics of a room

I’ve been coming here for over 15 years, 15 years of listening (reading) the exact same drivel that everyone here is spewing day in day out.

I thought there was a game tonight, I would have thought there would be conversations about the upcoming competition.

Don’t you guys ever get tired of the continued verbal diarrhea and repeating the same poop 1000 posts a day.

Benning is the GM until he isn’t, Green is the coach until he isn’t, Eriksson, Beagle, Sutter, Virtanen etc are players signed to the Canucks until they aren’t.

You guys all have some kind of repetitive compulsive behaviour disorder.

I’ll start it off, Calgary will come out strong to start the game, their forwards will press down Hughes side and try to overpower his lack of physicality. But I think Hughes is going to prepared and play a Norris style game.

If Holtby is in, Calgary will try shots high shoulder side because Holtby crouches low against the post and leaves an opening up top.

Could be wrong, but I think the Canucks play as a team and win decisively and could be the catalyst to much better play and a 750% run the rest of the way.

Pom Poms much, maybe but hopefully leads to better discussions.

I’d be tempted to just bite the bullet on Myers and pay the hefty price it takes to dump him on someone. The rest of the bad contracts all expire during the next two summers.

Hey I am going to ask you a serious question? Are you always a miserable ___ because of your physical issue or is it the drugs?

I am trying to figure out why a person would wake up every day looking for an argument? Is it just you are an idiot or is it because you are in pain that makes you miserable?

Jesus Vantel, what's the problem? I said competitive not pro. Two very different things.

But if it's so important to you then I've played hockey up to bantam, quit because I was no good, but have kept in touch with many friends who have taken it further. Some even as far as varsity and the San Diego Gulls. I've mentioned that before when talking about the Link Gaetz. I'm not bragging. Just saying they talk about the complexities of locker room dynamic all the time.

So now it's your turn... Do you disagree that members of a team have important roles beyond goals and assists? Let's just keep it to that for everyone's sanity, ok?

Tanev left some friends behind . That happens every year and I suggest the fan base grow as pair it is part of sports. We never won anything with Tanev and Flames won't either.

I could write you a novel. It's one of those things you only understand if you've spent a a great deal of time immersed in it. Like growing up on teams in locker rooms, joining new teams, making new friends losing old friends, year after year, while working toward a common goal. Sitting next to guys you couldn't stand a week earlier only to find out they are pretty cool when you're pulling the same rope.

Good times, bad times. The bonds you make are almost like family because of the love and respect involved. I have friendships to this day that grew from simple years in places I never thought I'd ever be. All athletes share these experiences. Good rooms reflect a strong set of values that are seated in some of the things I described. Leaders simply keep the pulse of it alive during those good and bad times.

I think Tanev had some strong ties here but it really is a business and people move every year. I think people and players have got to move on.
