I've always admired Gally's courage. He's made a nice career for himself despite being a little guy. Any team would love to have him. But if you're gonna dish it out then you can't be mad when you have to take it. - gergeswillems
Big difference in levels of cross checks in front. I played D for years, as high a level as Senior A. Just call the bad shots. difference between pushing off, and giving it to the guy across the shoulder blades. |

I've always said if Anthony Mantha had half of Gally's heart he'd be one of the best players in the NHL. But heart is something you either have or don't have. You can't look at a fancy stat and quantify it. - gergeswillems

yea so is hate, you can make big boy decisions in life and not be, or at least do what you can to curb it.
Hypocrisy is one of humanities big problems. Also, want kind of person are you if you are full of hypocrisy. Lame. - munky123
By denying you're not ever guilty of being a hypocrite is hypocritical in itself. I'm not buying what you're selling. |

totally. Oh and look at gallies stats for wingers. Matthew and ovi are a bit above him, but hes in the top 5 wingers in the league for point production and corsi for! Probably one of, if not the most underrated wingers in the league. - munky123
He’s had the some top analytical #’s for a few years now.

They had the predictable let down against Vancouver, and got away with one because Vancouver is a mess right now. I don't think they will be so lucky tonight. - Aetherial

Totally! I use the same for Drouin. Gally as a benchmark for drive and heart is hard to beat. He has the guts that people with un natural talent could make for the complete player. Lemieux, had both. If only he had health, i believe hed be called the great one along with Greztky. ( love mantha btw) |

haha love it! how about both?
I dunno, the guy crying about matthews losing a game to chariots hit, probably takes the same approach as Gary Galley " oh if chara hit him in the head hed be on the ice..." ( basically completely ignoring the video) drop the fan bias and call it like it is for all teams, even ones you hate.
I agree, it was borderline chariots check on matthews, but if we want to see changes, fans should be outraged to see it happen to all players, from all teams.
To bad people who chose which narratives, video perspectives and air time on sports networks cant seem to drop their fan colors either...Matthew hits get 1000 time the air time, but others get barely a peep.
I am all for protecting star players like i am for people like Gallagher. I dont want to see Matthews hurt. ( BTW chara didnt even get a penalty for that check, he got a measily 5k fine the next day) - munky123
Leafs fans aren't really being hypocritical - we've been a soft team for 20 years.
Off the top of my head, Tucker was probably the last player that other fans hated. |

I own and am very comfortable with my own hypocricy. But it probably is chalked down to how i could be better with the environemtn. I drive a truck in mtl.
When it comes to sports, work, ethics, politics etc; being a hypocrite is pretty lame |

I didn’t do that. I was a forward who would spear the D in the back of the leg as we entered the corner 🤣

There's a happy medium in being a rat.
For some reason this reminds me of the Muzzin puck flip at Tkachuk and now I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. |

Or Domi? haha
But im not saying leafs fans are hypocritical perse, i think fans in general and sports news producers. (one who generate the story lines and the angles they take)
Its a fine balance; there have been 3 games that habs players have been rocked to the head with poopty borderline hits. How have you perceived those hits? How have they been presented? If we took them serious like they do in Europe, maybe those checks that Matthews took, get a penalty or harsher condemnation.

There are certainly degrees. Problem is refs have different criteria on these degrees of cross checks. What I might think should be a penalty is likely not what you think should be a penalty.
I remember when I used to know how a game would be called based on who the ref was. Paul Stewart would pretty much let everything go unless it was an obvious penalty. Rob Schick would call everything in the book no matter how ticky tack it was. Kerry Fraser would always screw a team somehow some way. Not just the Leafs in 93 vs LA. He'd usually wait until OT and award a team a phantom PP.
I always knew the Red Wings would be killing penalties all night if Dunkin Dan O'Hallorhan was reffing. Why? Because he was once shot in Detroit and openly admitted to having a grudge. |

I honestly didn't hate that system. It all fell apart when Bettman took the names off of referees' jerseys. I get why he did it, but I think he really underestimated the sophistication of the system - how getting to know the individual referees benefited fans. |

I liked Kadri but the crosscheck to the face was a bit much. Not sad that he's gone.
I like Gally's game actually, he chirps and plays grey area and has that stupid grin on his face that you just wanna punch but he can play and doesn't cross the line too much. |
