Well the Habs have brought in guys like Chiarot, Edmundson and Weber to play a tough, physical game.

If you have a big strong defense, you use them to their strenght, which implies playing rough and hitting guys in front of the net.

Star players are good enough to hurt you on the scoreboard if you give them too much room, so yeah, they probably go extra hard on them. Why wouldn't they? That's how they can play and be effective.

It's the way it's always been though. I don't understand why this comes as a complete surprise this season.

Until the NHL changes it's approach on the matter, I can't really feel bad about it either.

I dunno, the guy crying about matthews losing a game to chariots hit, probably takes the same approach as Gary Galley " oh if chara hit him in the head hed be on the ice..." ( basically completely ignoring the video) drop the fan bias and call it like it is for all teams, even ones you hate.

I agree, it was borderline chariots check on matthews, but if we want to see changes, fans should be outraged to see it happen to all players, from all teams.

To bad people who chose which narratives, video perspectives and air time on sports networks cant seem to drop their fan colors either...Matthew hits get 1000 time the air time, but others get barely a peep.

I am all for protecting star players like i am for people like Gallagher. I dont want to see Matthews hurt. ( BTW chara didnt even get a penalty for that check, he got a measily 5k fine the next day)

I've always said if Anthony Mantha had half of Gally's heart he'd be one of the best players in the NHL. But heart is something you either have or don't have. You can't look at a fancy stat and quantify it.
