A littl bit of the defenseman are better, and the competition is weaker.
- Aetherial

Funny, the Canadian division was so strong in the summer.

People like to find excuses for the Leafs being good.

If they are good they cant use them as a punching bag to get their real life frustrations out.

So we won in spite of Freddie with a couple whiffs as usual.
- Aetherial

Freddie was actually good after that first shot five hole softie. The second goal was another flopping fish stinker but the Leafs did what they had to for 20 seconds or so. JT played well after that dirty play by Weber.

This is not true. The definition of a high-danger shot against the Leafs does not appear to be what you think it is.

I mean high sticking him in the face cutting him open - no double minor and then giving him a dirty elbow when he was defenseless and grinding his face into the ice in an attempt to injure. Watch it again

There was nothing dirty on that play. Nothing.

You can'T call a high stick when he's already sliding on the ice. That's a low stick.

Then Tavares slides into his legs and Weber falls on him.

Doesn't even look at Tavares the whole time.

He hit him with the stick in the face - he's responsible for his stick and it was not a follow through. Then he gives him a vicious elbow when he is completely defenseless. Should have been a major and a game for sure IMO.

Yeah, but look at it this way. Despite being top contenders for over a decade, they've won once and that was ten years ago. They're the 90s Atlanta Braves.
- Zezel

If only the Leafs were so lucky to be considered the 90's braves.
The bruins have made the finals three times in the that time span winning once.
That's 3 more times than the leafs have made the finals in the past 50 years!

I don't know what to tell you.

What happened there wasn't even a penalty.

You can't call a high stick when the stick is 1 feet off the ground. There's just no way.

And I see nothing in that replay that sees Weber look at Tavares or even try to hit him in the head. He just falls on him.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

I dont see it as a high stick....the elbow while not entirely his fault as he landed on him, he does look to push down a bit.

Such is life.

I'm pretty sure that Weber's little elbow drop was intentional, but I can completely understand how the refs felt they didn't have enough evidence to call it a penalty - especially in real time.

Anyhoo, moving on...
