I’ve said that lots over the last couple years and people just point me to natural stat trick. It’s the bible...supposedly.
- Garnie

i think over a bunch of games, those inconsistencies wash a way with enough data..but in a shorter season where you play the same teams a lot more (and team scorers)..it might be more pronounced.

to my eye test and some regular old stats like shots/game and gaa, the leafs are improved.

I think the former remains true, despite the Leafs seperating from the pack a little.

I'm not buying the whole North division suck thing. Leafs, Habs, Jets, Flames are all very good teams. And Edmonton has the two best point producers in the NHL....

- Scabeh

Yeah...I'm surprised by Vancouver though. I thought they'd be as good as the Jets and Oil.

I think if they fire the coach/make a trade theyll get better. They arent this bad honestly.

Well I said yesterday the Habs would win if the game stuck to 5 on 5 hockey.

Stats seem to once again confirm this. The Leafs have too much talent for us to compete at 4 on 4 and it showed.

Costly mistakes and lack of finish in the first half killed us.

Kudos to the Leafs though, they're gonna be tough to be beat this year.

- Scabeh

Yep - you dominated for the first 30 minutes.

I literally wrote at around 8:15 pm last night that "if the Habs score the next one, this game is over."

You didn't, and it wasn't.

Who’s going to trade with them, Ottawa? All US players will take 2 weeks to arrive

Leafs/Flames might. Virtanen maybe. Just because it takes 2 weeks, doesnt mean it isnt a good idea either.

Bennett for Virtanen....

I agree but after losing your player(s) for 2 weeks, you better move fast if you hope it’s going to help much this year.

Holl and Dermott’s shots were fricken laser beams.

- Garnie

Dermott's shot was pretty damn great.

I think the Holl shot could have been stopped but Price went on his knees to fast. It happens.

Yeah, I also underestimated the impact of Markstrom on that whole team.

When you don't trust your goalie, everyone plays with less confidence.

Speed and consistent effort.

He is also about a year removed from severing tendons in his wrist, and that is a year where he has not been able to play a lot. I think maybe some patience is in order. The goal this evening was a gift, but you need some luck now and then.

i am far more concerned with the complete lack of physical presence on this team, the goalie who lets in at least one softie, every game, and the guys who only show up sometimes.

Andersen leads the league in wins.

More importantly, he's above the Mendoza Line - .908 sv%
