What do you guys actually think the odds of sully getting canned or any immediate trades are? I’m leaning towards sully being here awhile still and only depth trades, prob starting on D
- 10inchTerror

Wondering if they go after Bennett now that he is potentially on the block. Or Virtanen. Players who can bring something different to the team. Idk if they get rid of Sully

The players have played hard for him, i truly believe his inability to change his style will ultimately lead to his demise. He stresses that he wants to play fast and the reality his top three players are no longer built that way. HCMS than turns around and says we want to be hard to play against, well our roster is built more for figure skating on Sunday’s at noon. When GMJR gave him the ultimate fast hard to play against guy in the league in Reeves he refused to play him. Now Reeves is one of the most productive 4th line player in the league. Lafferty , Jankowski , the other reject fro the panthers are not even close.......

The Pens need to swing a trade for a legitimate top 6 winger. They need something to push Zucker, Rust or Kap to the 3rd line.

You don’t have to be a fast foot speed player to play a fast brand of hockey. I don’t really understand how that misconception pops up so often in this board.

When you say most productive you mean 1 point in 9 games Ryan Reaves?

Yes but that means we need to move a good player......#8 with #17.....for Bennet and Johnny hockey....

Jagr wanted to leave. Malkin (and his wife) have given every indication that he never wants to play for another team. Not comparable unless Malkin's attitude changes because if Jagr wanted to stay he would have.
- Tojo.

Do you really sign Malkin for 3 or 4 more years at 6+ mil if his skills are slipping? I love Geno, but I'd rather get the rebuild going myself.

Preferably a right handed shooter to play the PP but I am starting to lean that way. Dumo might actually become expendable with POJ and Pettersson playing top 4.

Meanwhile Hornqvist with a PP goal, his 6th. He's even wearing an A tonight. Glad we got rid of that toxic contract for Matheson.

0 points in 6 games. And I’m not a fan of him either. Dude’s a grocery stick just like Reaves.

Lafferty is dime a dozen....reeves is not. Top 5 in the league every year in hits.....has scored goals , great teammate . Won numerous playoff series. I am not saying we bring him back. what is guy like Maroon worth.

Yeah, there is still a salary floor and having Sid and Malkin will keep fans engaged while they rebuild.

I've said I will start the rebuild by trading other guys. Rust, Zucker, Dumoulin. And I dangle Guentzel out there for a potential big return. You can probably push me either way on Letang. Then I hope guys like Kapanen and McCann produce in elevated roles.

They didn't give Jagr what he wanted so he went elsewhere and Jagr was arguably more important to the franchise.

Guarantees and declarative statements often come back to bite you.

Comparing the Jagr situation to the Malkin situation are in completely different universes. It just makes no sense what-so-ever.

I am for a retool as long as I feel Crosby, Malkin, and Letang can play at an elite level. When that starts to slip, and it looks like it has, I'd rather kick off a rebuild now rather than wait 5 years for them to retire.
- Tojo.

I think you can retool with moving, say Letang this off-season and signing Hamilton.

Bold statement with a new GM in charge who is known for his rebuilding skills.
- Tojo.

Because regardless of the GM ownership wasn't going to hire someone who didn't share the same vision and the vision seems obviously to keep this team competitive.

Jagr was "dying alive" in Pittsburgh.

I agree with this. Just how do they pull it off? Everyone would rather Mathesons ass be moved but it would probably come down to Pettersson.

Not to mention completely different owners which makes the two situations in two totally different spectrums.

They also couldn't afford him. That's why they traded him for a bag of pucks.

It's really one or the other. If Matheson is moved and depending on what they have to give up to move him, I'm targeting Palmieri. I've been against any significant moves this year based on everything, but if the direction changes for the better now I'm all in.

While true, if Crosby and Malkin are struggling with guys like Zucker, Kap, Guentzel and Rust (which is a pretty strong top 6 winger group), I can't imagine how they would look with low-cost chumps on both wings.

Honestly you can retool with trading both Geno and Tanger in the off-season. Doesn't have to be a full rebuild. It is possible. Trade Letang for good picks and sign Hamilton. And If Geno wants to go to..say Florida. Maybe you send Geno to Florida with something and snag Barkov. Idk just spitballing haha

But there were fans who said Jagr would always be a Penguin. "If Gretzy can be traded..."
