You guys know Geno isn't going anywhere, right?
- Rinosaur

I think after this season anything is on the table. However I don't see Geno going, but possibly Letang.

Not this year of course. Not next year either. Can anybody guarantee that Geno and/or Letang get contracts beyond that?

I can honestly see Tanger being moved after this season. Sign Dougie Hamilton then. Would be the smart move.

Geno goes when Geno wants to go. I don't think they move him unless he wants it to. As far as Letang, I could see it. If POJ continues to show an ability to produce then a POJ/Marino pairing COULD make moving Letang possible. I'd still be hesitant and I expect Letang to turn things around.

Yes. I'm guaranteeing you right now that if Geno wants to continue playing in the NHL that it will be with the Penguins and they will give him what he wants.

Yea I think Geno goes to Russia after his contract is up. But we'll see. As I just stated above, I'd trade Letang this off-season. Hell I'd trade him this deadline if we are not going to make it. Grab some picks and sign Hamilton.

I mean they can speculate that they try to move geno at the expansion draft but he will say no and stay in Pitt till his contract is up.

If Geno wants to stay I'm all for it as well. You just hope he signs a team friendly deal to keep competing. But one of the two need moved to re-tool and I'd go the Letang trade route and try and get Hamilton.

Personally, I'd rather see them start a rebuild then sit around in mediocrity. I can enjoy the process of acquiring the pieces for a rebuild. I do not believe Pittsburgh has the patience for it. Going to be tough though because every team in town is heading that way.
- Tojo.

I thought you were more of a retool guy or maybe you're both after a short attempt at a retool haha. Yeah, between the successes of the football and hockey teams, Pittsburgh should be patient. Will they be? Probably not haha. I'm with you there.

One reason I like these two hires is that I think they will block out irrational fan demands and it's not like it's Toronto. Now the ownership group might get antsy, that could be a thing, moreso Burkle as he would probably rather see a bunch of first round exits than missing the playoffs for a few years if it means a stronger team down the line.

Lol, of course you would disagree! You know it all! If you look at what I said about the money Comcast spent, OF COURSE THAT MEANS THAT COMCAST WANTS TO WIN NOW! You aren’t going to invest that kind of cash into your business and be told by your manager that “ yeah, sorry but we need another 3 years” which is about the timeframe Hextall said they would need before he was canned! Of course it’s about winning!

Dude you are not following well. I don't disagree with what you said. I disagree with the poster I quoted. I even supplied the comment that I disagreed with. I even said that you basically said what I said. Comprehend what you are reading.

Generally I'd agree, but a lot can happen in two years. I think it may be a mutual parting. Geno's family doesn't live in Pittsburgh. I could see FLA or KHL.

They didn't give Jagr what he wanted so he went elsewhere and Jagr was arguably more important to the franchise.

I love Geno, but I'd sign up for that in a second. That's a good way to retool.

it will be interesting to see what new management will tolerate as it relates to HCMS. Right now, getting on the right track short term is probably much different than what might be needed long term. How can we get a few more quality years out of our big three. I don't see a significant move with our core but could they trade guys like #17 & #59 & #8 to change this team's dynamics? It sounds crazy, but we are not adding a quality player trading Blueger or Zucker?

There was a massive disconnect between Hexy and Dave Scott (CEO of the Flyers since Mr. Snider's passing). Scott is a businessman. Not a hockey person at all. I guess Holmgren was supposed to be the buffer but it was clear in Scott's words at the time of Hexy's dismissal (seeking a GM with a "bias for action") that there was a rift between the two. Upon his departure, a lot of chatter emerged that Hexy was a polarizing figure with CIA level accusations (e.g.: Gord Murphy as an assistant coach was Hexy's "spy"). My guess is Burke is a strong figure to smooth out the wrinkles between Hexy and the brass. I hate the Penguins. I loved Hexy as a player and I was very happy with him as GM. You guys got a good one, one that will be more polish and refined in his second tenure as a GM.

So Burke's first order of business is to deliver us Morgan Rielly next offseason?

Good interview with Burke on the podcast with Whitney and Biz. Talked about how Yakupov was a richard and Rilley was #1 on his draft board despite never seeing him play in person.

What do you guys actually think the odds of sully getting canned or any immediate trades are? I’m leaning towards sully being here awhile still and only depth trades, prob starting on D

Sullivan is a very good coach. Unless there is a feeling he has lost the room, why make a change?

I am for a retool as long as I feel Crosby, Malkin, and Letang can play at an elite level. When that starts to slip, and it looks like it has, I'd rather kick off a rebuild now rather than wait 5 years for them to retire.

Jagr wanted to leave. Malkin (and his wife) have given every indication that he never wants to play for another team. Not comparable unless Malkin's attitude changes because if Jagr wanted to stay he would have.
