If it makes you feel any better, this kind of soft justice is only for really rich people - if he was a working stiff, he'd still be in prison.

DUIs are very technical charges and some lawyers who specialize are very good. Since this crime cuts across all income groups a lot of these lawyers charge a lot.

But buying a good lawyer certainly doesn’t mean you’re going to get off unless the cop or the Crown (frank) up. Judges hate letting those guys walk if they can help it.

Of course they won’t convict him but that doesn’t mean you don’t do it if you believe that what he did warrants impeachment. Present compelling evidence and arguments. If Republicans have to twist themselves into pretzels to avoid voting for conviction, let them wear the consequences of doing that.
