Happy Gameday.

Time to continue our game of the other teams' jerseys game.

Premise is simple: you are given one free shirt from each team in the league - who do you get?

Today we go through the Discover Central Division.

Tampa Bay: I'm tempted to go with Rob Zamuner here, and then when people ask me "WTF?" I can tell them about his Team Canada Olympic selection. I like Stamkos, too. But this one was always going to end up with Dave Andreychuk.

Florida: I have no franking idea. I never really liked Bure - either of them. I could go with a Gary Roberts, and then have a protein shake stain on the front. Jagr would be fun. But I'm going to go with Bryan McCabe, with the C on the front.

Chicago: I've never really liked the Blackhawks due to the Norris Division rivalry, so this one is obviously going to a goon from that era. Stu Grimson wins this one over Dave Manson and Bob Probert.

Columbus: I'm literally googling "best Columbus Blue Jackets" right now. First thought was to go with Rick Nash, but I'm going to go with goon Jody Shelley. Either way, this never gets taken out of the closet. Oh, and it will be the jersey with the cannon on the front.

Carolina: Obviously this is going to be a Whalers jersey. Shanny? Pronger? My brother would go with Keon. Howe is tempting. But I'll go with Sean Burke - always good to get a goalie sweater.

Dallas: Tempted to go with Modano, because while I never liked him, I always respected him. And I like #9. But I'm going to keep with the goon theme here from the Chuck Norris Division: Basil McRae over Shane Churla - in a North Stars jersey.

Nashville: Was going to go with a Paul Kariya here, but he's going to be my Anaheim, so I'll go with PK Subban here.

Detroit: Logic would dictate I take Bob Probert here, but I'm going to go with something funnier: I'll take a McCarty, and when we do the Honda West Division, I'll get a Lemieux for my wife, and we will sit together at a Red Wings game.

Wearing shoes might hurt the Blue Jays playoff chances. More slipping and sliding. Better stick with cleats.

Woah. This rivals the time Helene St. James told Red Wings fans that losing Marian Hossa to UFA was a good thing.

How could you choose Joe Nieuwendyk over Sam Bennett?

It was a close race, but Joe narrowly edged him out.

Tampa Bay: to me, Lecavalier has always been the face of the Lightning.

Florida: Jokinen. Or their future best player all-time, Barkov. But no - it's Jokinen.

Chicago: John Madden. Don't ask me why - thought he was one of the best #3C in recent NHL history. key player in that Chicago SC win - only year he played for them.

Columbus: Wisnievski, Jan Hejda, RJ Umberger and Tyutin are guys that come to mind first when thinking 'Columbus Blue Jackets'. I'll go with Seth Jones though.

Carolina: Arturs Irbe.

Dallas: I was thinking Zubov or Marty Turco. But obviously it will be Roopeeee Hintz.

Nashville: Mike Fisher.

Detroit: I'm getting two: Datsyuk and Fedorov.

It's a damn shame Bettman didn't make the Blues trade for St. Louis, and the Devils trade for Satan.

Met Rick Bowness one day with Sid the kid at a high end mens clothing store in Halifax. Sid was buying pants, I bought a nice suit. Spent about an hour and a half with them. Very cool day. We were the only 3 clients in the store. That was the first time I met Sid as well.

I actually agree with him - why does everyone think we gave away a great player in Russ Courtnall?

He scored 30 goals only once after leaving the Leafs.

In the era that he played, that's not good.

You were probably in the store for an hour and a half because it would be impossible for Sid to buy pants that fit properly.

He starts with size 38 waist, and has to have them tailored down to a 33 waist.

Very true story. Kid is shaped like a frog.

Me, a standard 44 tall..

Sid bought 16 pairs of pants that day..

He actually came out of the dressing room with one pair of pants on, stood beside me in the mirror and said " Wow, these are nice, are they on sale " I almost fell on the floor..

It's not so much that Courtnall was a great player. He wasn't. It's that Kordic was a one dimensional meathead who abused alcohol and steroids. Back in 1989 those guys were dime a dozen. Courtnall could at least take a regular shift.

I recall being ticked off when Detroit traded a young Randy McKay for Troy Crowder. Crowder fought Bob Probert a couple of times. Big deal. McKay went on to be a valuable role player for the 95 Cup winning Devils team against... Detroit.

I think McKay was also on the 2000 Cup winning Devils team as well.

EDIT... McKay (and Dave Barr) were actually awarded to NJ as compensation for Detroit signing Troy Crowder.

I remember back In 1995 after New Jersey swept Detroit in the SCF that roughly 90% of the Red Wings fanbase wanted Sergei Fedorov to be traded to Chicago for Jeremy Roenick. I was part of the 10%. I think about those days and laugh now. 😂
