I am with jetlag for this, thought it was Vesalainenโ€™s best game as a jet. As for second line pp, when running four forwards on pp that means he only has to be top 8 to be on second unit, he was drafted for offense and 2nd pp makes sense at this time.

I think Heinola should be the D on our top PP unit, until Maurice wakes up and makes that happen, id run with these power play units;

shief-Connor-Dubois-Ehlers-Copp, top unit - yes 5 forwards.
then
Lowry-Stastny-Wheels-Vesalainen-Morrisey - 2nd unit

Disappointed to hear that Poolman will take Stanley's place on the blue-line tonight (or it sounds like it). But 'Lord Stanley's" turn will come again - I would protect him over DeMelo in next year's Expansion Draft.

Heinola is another whose turn will come but let's remember he is just a kid, let him get some time on the smaller ice and experience in the AHL against men. Then we may have a dandy. Like to see some more muscle added first. But he's slick with the puck and those type are a valued commodity.

Next year's "D" - Morrissey, Pionk, Heinola, Stanley, Samberg, hopefully Poolma and Forbort re-sign, and 8th - Beauloeu. Of course an up-grade could change this, but with added experience - acceptable!

Vesalainen's play has grown in leaps and bounds. Really impressed with improvement. Size, desire and was drafted for his skills I believe. Vesalainen and Gustafsson will be ready to step in full time if opportunity knocks.

Whoops, I see Vesalainen out tonight, Stanley stays in - 11F and 7D! I don't like Vessy out, but like the 11F concept. Last game not enough minutes or rhythm.

Luckily Beaulieu's contract is only a few 100k above minimum. I don't see him in the picture for very long. When was the last time you saw him make a decent breakout pass that was actually on the tape. How many times does he ice the puck or just bang it off the boards and try to get it out of the defensive zone. He is very expendable. Heinola is just a kid but is way better than NB. Same with Stanley , and likely Samberg as well.

Veslalainen and Gustafsson are keepers. They also represent excellent depth. No one can argue the Maurice hasn't given players a chance this season even with a pretty much healthy team. If guys play well and play hard they will get ice time. There are a lot of bodies to rotate in and out so Heinola may have to wait for an injury. I think he would get more games but Stanley has performed unexpectedly well. I don't see this as a bad thing though. I also miss Harkins but I think I read he was injured.

BTW...I still haven't quite gotten over that 4 pt goal with 0.7 seconds left. I suppose the gut-punch will slowly dwindle away and then come back if the Jets are somehow in a tight race for a playoff spot with a game or two to go.

Goal with .7 seconds left.

Yes, if the periods were only 18 minutes, the Jets would have won far more games, or many at least, over the last few years.

They drive me nuts in the last two minutes of a period!

Last game I felt like they were playing for a tie the last 10 minutes. Too conservative!

Actually, they have probably won more games after pulling the goalie than they have lost over the past 2 seasons.

You just knew Maurice would waste no time at all turning an immense organizational strength back into mediocrity while blocking the progress of young players.

He moves Stastny to the wing, and scratches Vesalainen? Why? Nate Thompson offers nothing. Youโ€™ve now put the 4th line back on a 6 minutes basis, and f*cked over Vesalainen and Gus for nothing at all.

HOW DO YOU ROLL 7 D AND NONE ARE HEINOLA OR SAMBERG, YOU F*CKING FOOL

No, I agree with that. Pull goalie, OT - no issue.

Was talking about the last two minutes of A period.

Only Maurice can turn a bunch of Stallions into Donkeys. Worst coach for this team. I can see him at racetrack looking at thoroughbred horses and wondering to himself how well they would plow a field.

That is a tremendous analogy. Maybe with the Moose starting up our 2 prized young D will force his hand at some point this season.

So, what some of you are saying is that Maurice gets paid $ 3 million per year just to piss Rexy off ?
Jets don't pay him to win games, develop players, or do anything to benefit the team.
Every decision he makes is predicated on what will piss Rexy off.
