Sorry, when he was w/ Carolina*
It's already been reported that Burke's role will be advisory in terms of hockey decisions, and acting as a liason between Hexy and David Morehouse. He's not there to act as a 2nd GM or to loom over day-to-day decisions. - Tomahawk
That's good. Too many cooks spoil the broth.

Yes....but Hextall didn't really nail drafts. Look at what he passed over and what he look at what he took......Pastrnak, Debrincat and Miro versus Sanheim, Laberge and Patrick. - ClutchFlyer

With that incredible 20/20 hindsight vision of his, it's surprising that he can't spot that crack in his LP. |

It gets silly. Especially mentioning Debrincat.
What next, gonna criticize him for not drafting Brayden Point?

There should be a minor-league affiliate for hockeybuzz. You go there, you develop your skills, and you work to be good enough to get called up when a slot opens up. - Scoob

Also, anyone know why the forum for yesterday's blog got locked and remains so as of this writing? There are no indications for why it happened. That is, no signs of the discussion ever deteriorating to any kind truculence. Unless there was a lot of deletions that I've missed... |

come on man 5-2. They will likely win another before the flyers. - login
Penguins also lead the Flyers, 2-0, in bankruptcies and NHL-driven bailouts.
Penguins lead the Flyers, 1-0, in threats to relocate the franchise unless they got a taxpayer-funded arena.
Penguins lead the Flyers, 2-0, in "tanking eras" in which they made zero effort to even be competitive. Even when the Flyers missed the playoffs, they were at least trying to get there.
The Penguins were essentially handed Crosby because of how the 2005 NHL Draft, which would more fairly have been an equal odds lottery for every team following a canceled season, was weighted to heavily favor the worst teams from 2003-04.
And, no, they won't win another Cup anytime soon. The bill has come due for all their overtrading of assets. Their nucleus is still formidable but aging, and they don't have the right mix around them to win another Cup with this group.

You should read his replies when Leafs trolls drop by and beak off.. It's educational for me to know just how bad they have been. Also valuable as I am surrounded by Leafs fans here.. haha.. |

Great post Bill! However, I have ZERO confidence this league will not bend over again at the will of good boy Mario when the next generational player is available in the draft.

Who cares? Bottom line is 5-2 and it always will be. You sound like such a scorned fan. I don't need to hear the pens history as I know it very well. Nothing but excuses. As far as the arena that was smart business why use your own money? So flyers fans help pay for the pens arena; that's awesome. Like sticking a knife into a wound.
They will win one before the flyers, will take that bet any day.
When your at a bar or a party and the pens/flyers conversation comes up. Is this what you talk about? |

I will say one thing for the Pens, they are good at timing when they go to the Finals. The Flyers are awful at it.

I think Flyers fans do that because most pens fans automatically default to 1975. I mean at least put in an effort? In general Pens fans are spoiled and don't really deserve it. That's what is annoying to me. Flyers fans always show up and support the team.

Laine benched. Woof. Glad we dodged that bullet.
I hate we have to cram at least 3 games now, although both teams will be in the same position, more or less. |
