Trying to get Silky a goal. - Woderwick
I have checked the stats, but I think he has gone 700 games without a goal |

The Leafiness is so iconic here. Simmonds parks himself in front of the net on virtually every offensive push, reg shifts or power plays. Shots coming at him from everywhere... and he gets hurt on a clearing attempt. - Woderwick

He has been good, he just cant score. His speed has helped on the PK, so no way he sits. - Archaic
I think he may need to...just to get a different perspective. Sometime watching the skilled guys from the press box can actually instill some confidence.

Because they don't have a good team surrounding Sidney Crosby?
I'm not saying one player makes a team a Cup favourite -- I'm saying a player of his calibre - on a team that is already a legit playoff threat - can elevate the team into said Cup favourite.
So yes, I think a trade for Sid makes some sense. Maybe there are better ways MTL can get better but anytime you can land a guy like Crosby you shouldn't so casually dismiss it. - mjones242
I think everyone would be completely psyched to add Crosby to their team.
But adding an 8.7 cap hit to your team this season is very difficult.
And it's not just about the money because obviously if Pittsburgh ever goes down that route, it'll be for great young players and prospects and picks.
We're talking about a Lindros-like package just for the caphit and players to make sense.
I'm not sure it's possible without completely destroying the current team's setup.

I think you want to keep Nylander with JT as a second skill pairing. Having Simmonds out for so long is going to hurt. - Archaic
It's gonna hurt for sure... Simmonds would tell players to shot the puck at him... We don't have another guy that is willing to sacrifice in front of the net like he does. |

Not worth it for the Habs.
Something like
Suzuki+, 1st, plus prospect (Caulfield/Poehling/Fleury) and filler to match would be my guess
Or Maybe Suzuki/Drouin, +2nd |

Agreed.
Looking at it from a Leafs perspective, sure, it would be nice to have Crosby, but how do you fill in the holes left by trading away Kerfoot, Dermott, Bracco and a 2nd round pick? |

In all honesty, if Pittsburgh ever trades Crosby, it would be to clear some salary, so you'd have to take on the full contract... Can't see Pitt taking on a bad contract just to help a team. |

Habs do not want to trade cost protected Suzuki and Caufield at this point anyway.
It's not happening.

At what point do we say that Mikheyev needs to sit in the press box?
No goals and 2 assists in 12 games just isn't cutting it. - Atomic Wedgie
People like his speed.
I just find, he doesnt do too much with the puck...other than skate fast.
Right now, sitting him is not an option....too many injuries. |

I agree, that they shouldn't.. .Those are 2 guys that the Penguins will ask for though. |

Dermott sits, I guess?
Just took a peek at his stats - no points in 9 games (yeah, really more like 8 games).
That's not good for a guy who's supposed to be a puck-moving defenceman. |

Just like that's who Columbus wanted for Dubois.
And why the trade didn't happen.

For Crosby...its going to take more than that. He has 4 years left on his contract.
Maybe not quite Lindros level as he was still young....but something close. |

I actually think Suzuki/Caulfield and a 1st is pretty good value. Remember this would be a reset for them.
Theyd collect more assets when they trade Malkin as well. Would be an excellent start for them. |

Malkin only has a year left after this year.
I'd think he would be traded before Crosby. |
