Cant we protect more F’s then D?
- Garnie

Matthews Marner taveres Nylander is 4, then 3 d. Or 8 total skaters.

how many picks are going out as well?

- dmnted

If that team could stay together for a few years and go on multiple Cup runs, however many picks as necessary. IMO.

Let's play would you rather:

Would you rather 3 years of 25-30 or 50-60 picks in the 1st and 2nd rounds of the draft OR 3 Stanley Cups???

I'm NOT for losing picks when your team is bad and needs top 10 draft picks to rebuild but when your team is built, core is solid and it's time to win....dump the late picks for assets to win. IMO, this strategy works until your core gets too old. See LA, Penguins, Chicago.

1. Team sucks with no talent....keep picks and pick as high as you can to rebuild.
2. Team is loaded with young talent....trade picks to fill out the roster every year with talent to keep winning.
3. Team is loaded with aging talent....trade aging talent for high end picks before they are TOO old to trade any more.
4. Tank to rebuild.

Bennett for Dermott + Engvall would be a horrible deal for the Leafs.

Maybe Kerfoot + a 2nd.

If Dubie gives up Dermott and Engvall for Bennott, it's really time to fire him.

- MaximusAurelius

Lol what.

Why is dermott and engvall a bad trade but the leafs have to add a 2nd to kerfoot?

Kerfoot is miles better than engvall, if the leaf can trade engvall instead of kerfoot they'd be stupid not to.

No one in the nhl is saying na we don't want kerfoot, give us engvall instead.

I’d rather Engvall at the moment. I think he has more then what he’s shown given some more ice and time. JMO

I’d take an upgrade anywhere but let’s make it worth while.

Kuemper may be avail.

I agree with Garnie, in particular considering the contracts of both.
and Dermott has much more value than a second as well.

Gibson is one of the 3-5 best goalies in NHL, plus he's only 27y old.

Andersen is a 10-20 guy.

Gibson is obviously the way way better goalie.

If we are trying to win now, keeping engvall for what might be doesn't make a lot of sense especially if you think Bennett can bring more gritt and energy that the leafs need

Imo the leafs have guys that can(or already have) replace engvall and no one currently who can replace kerfoot.

Well, Fred's post-season efforts with the Leafs certainly don't support him in this debate.

I don’t mind Kerfoot, but I find he does a lot of fast skating with little gain from it. JMO ( eye test )

Big body LW for Tavares, sure....but will he ever live up to the old hype. He hasn't really shown anything in the NHL yet, or has he??

(Don't watch Coyotes enough to know much about him)

Does he use his size?
Good on the boards like Hyman?
Hands?

Bennett, I'm more familiar with. He's pretty good at the above.

(They both have 1 assist this year in 8/9 games )

Crouse scored 15 goals last season playing 13min ATOI and had 200 hits in 66 games. Methinks if he played with Snakevares he would score 25 goals, easy.
