But they would have saved an entire Canucks team playing poopty.
- manvanfan

Like I said Tanev-Stecher-Leivo-Toffoli would not have saved us from the bad of play. Larger issues at hand. I wanted Marky back but not at 6X6 no way. Good riddance. I guess that extra 500K was pretty important to him after the Nucks brought his career back from the brink lol

Here is an example mention Tryamkin on this thread

He is a stay at home big guy and despite most people's dislike for him he will mix it up if needed.

Getzlaf is available , Ducks want to get rid of him

- VANTEL

Getzlaf is getting pretty old and run down. I don't know if he's coming to Van for what he would now be worth, even though that would be fun to have him.

Yup.
When Tyler Motte is your most aggressive player, something is wrong. Is the coaching telling players not to hit, is coaching giving players shit for not being physical.
As an example, when Jake first started out, he was hitting at about 2 hits per game, he got that bs suspension and hasn't hit anywhere near what he did when he started out, why is that?
Bo, who is a beast, might throw a check every 5th game,, the list goes on and on.
Why won't these guys play physical?

Hopefully Gadjovich and Lind and Podkolzin can help out in this aspect.
Heck, even Tryamkin...did I really just say that.

I think the team culture and coaching is 100% part of it. You’re right about Jake. Hell, even last week he had a nice physical game against the Habs and got scratched the next game.

I bet if Virtanen was drafted by Boston or Washington, he’d be a different player. Probably not much better offensively but more consistent with physicality.

Seen what the long term contracts for older players have done. Maybe a good year or two but 4 more years of poop. Talk about cap issues.

New coach might not let the players coach themselves. That would be good to get the team on the same page.

The amount of cap space being wasted on marginal players is depressing to look at. The Leafs have a poop load of cap space tied up in their stats and yet their cheap depth looks perfectly fine. It’s annoying.

Gadj had a good tilt last night he drew even against a bigger guy. Lind is a talented sh1t disturber .

I wanted Hartley instead of Green, but only for a couple of years. He gets his teams to play with an edge. After he’d establish some team toughness during the down years, I would’ve replaced him with someone who’s better with systems but isn’t a softie like WD or TG.

But in two years the players that left our team this year will be marginal in two years and here we go again.

Yeah, but 10 wrongs don’t make a right.

Trading with teams in cap hell gets you Miller and Schmidt, or others traded like Ryan Murray... expensive UFA’s gets you Eriksson, Myers, Beagle, Roussel, etc. I know which I’d choose.

We also need players that will go to the net. BTW Lind nailed a Dman into their own goalie last night . Everyone on the ice wanted a piece him

I’d even just settle for some speed and physicality, just finish checks. Green has scratched guys like Virtanen and ZMac after games where they actually throw some hits, if I’m that player I’m probably thinking “this coach doesn’t value physicality much so I guess I should focus on other things”

It’s depressing seeing Beagle and Roussel trying really hard to catch up to dmen on the forecheck but sadly they’re speed is just not there anymore so they can’t even finish their checks. Sutter is too thin to throw his weight around. Gaudette just looks lost half the time and isn’t that fast either. It’s basically just Motte lol.

Meanwhile the Canucks dmen are usually getting beaten up on the forecheck and then start making panic plays with the puck.

Just watched Green's interview after todays practice in TO, he sounds beaten down and defeated.

Yeah, I wouldn’t expect to win with him, just establish some team back bone. I wouldn’t hire him now, I would’ve done it back when the team was expected to lose anyway and only for a couple of years.

Agree we need toughness but Hartley would have been another Torts situation and MNGT/Ownership didn't want that lol
