I long stated Babcock's lack of good usage for guys like Matthews and Marner was the Leafs #1 issue.
2nd best team since his firing with crappy goaltending - RogerRoeper
Everyone and their mom wanted more ice time for am and mm.
Jesus.
You honestly just repeated what most were already saying. |

Jason Spezza, not surprisingly, on the ice for today's optional morning skate. Why he's become so valuable to the Leafs (ICYMI): https://t.co/fEkqHxgpxp - 21peter
I still say it was classy of other teams not to claim him.
They could have done it just to (frank) the Leafs but didn't.

Am and mm needed to be on the ice more in specific situations.
But as always, it was only you.

Didn't hurt that Spezza said he would retire if they did.
My younger self would be aghast by these words: I'm loving Jason Spezza. |

Not sure, but hopefully we never have to see Thornton on the top line again. - Fakepartofme
I doubt Keefe is done with Kerfoot, Mik and Hyman as his third line. |

Are you honestly under the impression that other people didn't also believe that the two best players on the team should be given more than 17 minutes a game?
It was all over the news. They compared Matthews ice time to Mcdavid, to Crosby. This "I was the only one" act is completely disconnected from reality.

He really should be.
Thornton is not a 1st liner anymore and hyman has really let am and mm do their thing.
Theyve really taking off since he was put back on that line |

Yup you totally clocked Matthews minutes on your own and came up with a total of 17 minutes in game 7. Certainly didn't hear it from every sports outlet and newspaper in the country. All hail Roger, the only person on earth to state that Matthews needed more ice time. |

Didn't think Spezza's contract qualified as a 35+ because it is only one year. If it does qualify as a 35+, then yes getting stuck with the cap hit would be a large disincentive.
I'm pretty sure 1 year contracts don't have to abide by the 35+ rules though. |

I hated Thornton on the first line, but this Matthews Marner run absolutely started the last few games Jumbo was healthy. It started to work, damn well too. I loved that 3rd line with Hyman there every game.
I'd have no issue going back to it. Both lines being good is better than 1 being good and the other being less effective than it could be. |

Oh poop, I didn't even know that, I thought it was any and all 35+ contracts. Just looked it up, it says only contacts that are 2 or more years long count. |

Don’t make me agree with you. Even if Joe brings a slight drop to the Matthews, Marner line (and I’m not convinced) the value of that third line is too big. Plus, Hyman can spend time moving up since Thornton won’t play the same number of minutes |

I think there are players that GMs believe you don’t (frank) over if you’re not trying to improve your team, just mess with someone else. |
