Looking at that list. Jets are way better!

No questions about it.

Pffft, way better, nope they're not.

Every Habs D pair is better then the Jets.

Chiarot is better than Beaulieu, Weber is better then Morrissey, Forbort is better then Edmundson, Petry is better then Pionk,
Romanov is better then Stanley, DeMelo and Kulak are about even, Mete and Poolman are probably a draw, slight edge to Poolman I'd say, add that up and the Habs D core is better.

So, as Jets GM, who do your protect in the Expansion Draft, as we stand right now - Morrissey, Pionk and DeMelo? Or Morrissey, Pionk and Stanley?

I know I would be in the minority, but I go the latter. Stanley is just scratching the surface right now. At least IMO. Gawd I'd hate to lose him!

Idk about Stanley yet, he looks good but has been only on the 3rd pair so far, need to see him on the 2nd pair for awhile before I get too excited, Seattle can have DeMelo as far as I'm concerned, Morrissey and Pionk are for sure protected, as for the 3rd dman to protect I'm not sure yet.

Let's wait and see until we have Montreal and Toronto a few times, before commenting.Maybe even a little more of McDavid and Draisaitl.

Kind of the way I see it. DeMelo, in my eyes, has reached his potential - 3rd line pairing, Stanley has not reached his potential, and may be able to play much higher with more experience.

Yes, Stanley may sit a few games, but he's going to eventually be a player in my books.

P.S. Patrik benched the last 5 minutes of 2nd period in Columbus. Probably now score the winning goal.

Stanley is a work in progress, think we know what DeMelo is at this point.

Patty and Torts are gonna have a rough go I'm guessing.. Lol
Roslovic scored the game winner!.. was a nice goal apparently.

It was ridiculous. He’s putting up a point per game in Columbus, lol

Think I'm going to miss Jacko more than Patrik. But I guess we had to give JR up to get a young centre with smarts, size, speed and skill.

When you take into consideration the age, skill, and salary cap considerations, after McDavid, Matthews, Draisaitl (C or LW?), and I guess MacKinnon, really is there a better centre that you could acquire in the whole NHL than PLD?

Eichel, Barzal, Pettersson, Barkov, Point, O’Reilly, Aho...I’ll stop, but you get the point

Just saw the highlight, holy smokes. Jack Roslovic is also playing center in CBJ. Don’t understand the lack of opportunity here. I guess Maurice has a bias towards bigger centers.

On the other hand the trade is looking more like Roslovic for PLD and a third for Laine.

DeMelo has sucked badly so far this season, worst Jets dman easily other then Niku, cling to the analytics all you want but DeMelo has been bad, period.

Agree. DeMelo has been a disappointment this season. Morrissey is miles better right now than DeMelo

I will continue to be a fan of Jack. I think it was the undercover thing he did with the kids on the outdoor rink last year. He is a rink rat at heart playing for fun and is clearly in a good place for himself. I hope it lasts.

Good call, wait to see what he does against higher end skill. I like him in the sheltered minutes he gets, pairs well with Beaulieu, love how he manages Tkachuk so far and overall effortless physicality (the positive kind of effortless ability). If he stays at 12-15 minutes and plays like this no complaints from me this year.

Even when you take age, contract, years of team control left, etc into play? Pettersson maybe. Eichel as well.

I think that Harkins and Appelton are just as good as Jack! It all comes down to opportunity. I never understood this idea of playing guys like Roslovic less than 10 minutes a game on the 4th line.

I’m a fan of PLD, and I do think he’ll become a quality player. But at this point, his most attractive features are his ceiling and his pedigree. He hasn’t put up nearly the numbers that these other guys already have

There’s always the chance that he never really emerges, and settles into a more Ryan Johansen-esque career. I’m not saying that I think he will, but it’s a possibility. And for that reason, it’s a bit unreasonable to claim that you’d take him over guys like Barzal, Point, Aho and Barkov

I'm looking at the big picture, age, upside, skills including grit, contract $$$ and length, UFA status, etc. Certainly arguments could be made for Barzal and Point. But Aho ($8.5 and UFA in 4 years), and Barkov ($5.9 and UFA in 2 yrs), I'd certainly rather have PLD ($5.0 and RFA in 2 yrs).

I have no way of knowing for sure, but I would guess that there is a much better chance of PLD signing long-term in Wpg, than the others. Said to want to be centre stage in hockey market. Well "hello" Wpg! But this is just speculation on my part.

Certainly the players you mention are quality players and I wouldn't turn not one of them down. I just think PLD is the best option as we stand, big picture.

But each to their own.

you are not wrong, but if he can be the player every play offs that he was against the Leafs and Tampa last year, i'll take that with only 60 point regular seasons all day long and wont say boo

regular season is great for individual awards, I'd rather a Cup win

Morrissey has been bottom 3 for us this year. He’s visibly making unintelligent plays

With one year less on the Laine contract and him wanting to be in California vs Dubois's family in Wpg , its getting a lot easier to understand why it appeared to be only a third for Roslovic. I think this deal will make a lot more sense for the Jets in a year or less.
