We all have different 4th line recollections hahah
- MattStrat

Haha yeah. Where a guy starts on face-offs isn't always where he plays. I definitely feel in the defensive zone ZAR was on the left. As Vic was saying, it can get jumbled on offense.

Yeah I saw that. I mean cal is getting the only full time nhl player, but I guess if he’s 4th string it doesn’t make sense.

Also Marino on ice for practice today!

- 10inchTerror

Marino back is excellent news! I guess he was just a close contact covid case and never tested positive!

I have sling and get NBCSN and NHL network who it, and I pay $40 month. Youtube TV is $65. Not a HUGE difference, but about the only difference I see is that I get local channels, so I would get games that are on NBC. I get almost all the same channels on Sling as Youtube. I'm not sure if it's worth the other extra $25.

Locast.org gets you local channels for certain markets for a $5 monthly donation. A simple location guard web browser allows you to fake your location so it also can work as an “NFL package”.

Lowcast absolutely sucked for me. I've heard people say that the donation didn't get rid of the adds for more than a day.

Works for me flawlessly on an Apple TV box. It’s how I watched lions games this year.

I also never bothered to make the donation so I don’t have a valid opinion on how it works when you pay money.

It worked really well for the initial 30 minutes I used it and then I started getting clobbered with the ads to donate that interrupted broadcasting every five minutes, making it unusable. Which, you know, fair, because they need to make money. But I did some research before committing and found that a lot of people got hit with the ads again in a very short timeframe after donating making them have to donate $5 every couple weeks or so to keep using the service. If $5 won't even get me a month then I'm perfectly fine to continue using my antenna and AirTV and just deal with the hassle of having to fix my set up whenever my kittens get the zoomies and decide to knock over my antenna.

But as far as chord cutting goes, AppleTV as an interface has been a godsend. The catch is that you do need a regular cable subscription to plug into your account, but once you have that you can just jump from channel app to channel app and AppleTV has even rolled out a picture in picture feature so you can watch multiple channels at once. My suggestion to a potential chord cutter is to pool a group of friends together to all go in and split a regular ass cable sub, but then everyone get Apple TVs and all use the log in. My setup with my parents is that they provide the cable sub and I provide all the premium services like Netflix, the Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ bundle, and so on.

There’s a work around to get local channels on Sling with something called AirTV. Essentially AirTV connects to an antena and then converts the OTA broadcast into a digitally stream able feed. AirTV used to be its own thing with its own app, but they started closely working with sling a while back and made it so you can have the AirTV beam the channels into Sling as part of your overall channel listing. The integration was actually so successful that sling flat out bought AirTV and it’s now a Sling product. I actually still use the Sling app specifically for ABC and CW OTA channels courtesy of the AirTV because for whatever reason I can’t watch live ABC and CW feeds with my parents’ cable sub log in.

So the work around: get an AirTV and hook it up to an antenna. Set up the AirTV on the Sling app and choose the local OTA channels you want, and boom! Now you get, ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CW, PBS, ION, and whatever other trash local network you want in sling.

Long story short: don’t pay more money for a different tv streaming service just because you want local channels. You can do that with sling, just requires some extra hardware.

I don't know why anyone pays for any of this. I watch every sporting event for free via streaming. For hockey it is Sportsurge. For soccer it is different sites but I am rarely not able to find the game I want with a good quality stream.

I have an active security clearance and can no long pirate streams. The chances I'll ever get dinged in an interview to re-up my clearance because I pirated a sports stream is probably low but I'm not jeopardizing my career over it.

pucks to the net, pucks to the net, pucks to the net....all sounds good...if they do it, that is.

Thanks for updates

Probably won't matter if no one is in or near the crease. I was thinking that maybe that was why they are hesitant to shoot. They are probably thinking, "Why would I shoot this if there is no traffic and almost 0% chance of it resulting in a goal?" All an unscreened shot does is usually lead to a stoppage and/or a change in possession.

I've been looking at youtube tv recently and remember some of ya'll (yinz)complaining about something about it...is it no good to watch hockey games? blacked out for non-locals?

LOL!

My son-in-law is from New Hampshire and hates our lingo. He met my daughter in college (Geneva), eventually they got married, he got a job and they had to move to Oklahoma City. Then when my granddaughter started school, she used y'all. I told her "You don't say y'all, you say yinz." He wasn't happy but he didn't say anything.

Anybody got good recommendations for like a 7 piece knife set for an average home cook looking to spend a few hundred bucks?

MAC and Gesshin are the r/ChefKnife approved go to recommendation for nice but entry level knives. Pretty sure you can get MAC as a set but Gesshin you’ll have to purchase individually. Dalstrong and Shun are marketing ploys and not worth your money.

For around $175 I think you can Wusthof set, but I' not sure you'll get 7. Zwilling is pretty common, but a $200 Zwilling should be good.
