Hughes Schmidt
Juolevi Myers
Rathbone Chatfield
Brisebois Rafferty

So far that's what Canucks D could look like next season.

- manvanfan

Not aimed at you . Juolevi won't get better sitting on the bench and this is where it gets to be a problem with a coach trying to save his job.

That looks worse than this season!!

Tryamkin an outside shot? Would like to see Rathbone this season to see what he can do.

I'm hoping they trade for another top 4 guy this year.

Unpopular thought: with their regression this year, and JTMs value being high, do you think they trade him before they have to re-sign him? He might be trending down before the Canucks are ready to compete properly..

Losing Edler and his bloated salary is addition by subtraction

Most of that bloated salary will go to Hughes.

Could bring back Hamonic? Which would make it look better but really he's a 3rd pairing guy now and according to Jpat, so is Myers and so is Chatfield.

They are trying to win games still. OJ was alright in his games but Chatfield has been just as good as good as OJ was. He just doesn't have the same upside.

He moves as slow as Edler, doesn't have the trust a veteran gets, and also can't break up the cycle like Edler which is the one thing he can still do out there.

Hurricanes have added Justin Williams to their front office. Advisory role to the GM

The New York Rangers have given Chris Drury a shiny new title, promoting him from assistant general manager to associate general manager. He will remain general manager of the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack. The team explains that in his role, Drury will “continue to assist Rangers general manager Jeff Gorton on all player transactions and contract negotiations.”

I can appreciate that but the team is wasting a year of a young player like OJ that can be learning from an all star vet like Edler.

The screaming mob that wants everyone fired doesn't help the decision making . I think Chatfield and OJ should be inserted in the line up a lot more regularly.

Especially OJ right now when the team is losing due to defensive breakdowns.

Ray Ferraro on TSN Overdrive, when asked, who do the Canucks misst the most, of the players they lost to free-agency, he responds, Tanev without a doubt. The guy is a steady influence who does the right play.
He is not impressed with Schmidt.

I am starting to like Ray.

Guessing both EP & QH will go for bridge deals..they would be giving up too much $upside if they sign long term after this year (unless their play & impact dramatically improves as the season progresses). Might do it anyways given the flat cap outlook over the next couple of years.

The Vancouver Canucks need a mentor for the forwards on how to play defence. I don't know how LE hasn't got a look yet.

If that isn't serious proof that Schmidt is by far the best Canucks defenceman, I don't know what is.
