Calgary are struggling out of the gate also. They have won 4 games and lost 6 .Two of their four wins were against Canucks.
- VANTEL

I had us and Calgary right around that 16th spot bubble teams most likely but a good shot at the POs too. At this rate both club need to start stringing some wins together with this format in 10 more games like that their season is done.

nah, man. if you've been a fan of this team for more than a minute, this type of season and "feeling" should feel normal.

i'm comforted by the team. in a world full of chaos, i'm glad the canucks provide me with a comforting reassurance that some things will always be the same.

it was tongue in cheek...but yes, I understand how you feel. One day they may get it right, just don't expect it anytime soon.

I actually feel a bit bad for Green in this situation. Without an extension, he's coaching for the "now" and probably making some decisions out of desperation for wins. Miller deserved to be benched last night and off the late powerplays, but you know he's one of the best options to score (which he did) and try to make the score look respectable. Its only going to get more toxic if this organization can't get poop straight
- WhiteLie

What is funny is that four weeks ago the media (Mostly Rick Dhaliwal) was very vocal and pointing out how shameful it was Green didn't have a contract. Today Rick has flipped his opinion . There is probably a very good chance that going into this year Canucks management seen the same thing as most people in here saw.

I bet they were sitting on the fence with Green and wanted to see if he could take the next step. His game style is AHL and they need someone that can outcoach their opponent.

IMO the entire coaching staff needs replacing not just the head coach.

Let's trade Boeser.

I wonder if Mont would trade that 3rd line winger Tyler something for him...

- Jkuzzi

appreciate the humour

Joking aside I’m starting to think that replacing the GM might be more positive than either player trades or a coaching change. Something like:

* the bad “start” gets blamed on JB and his mishandling of free agents
* organization can be represented as accountable to the players & fans
* contract discussions with Petey, Hughes and others gets reset
* new GMs usually want to bring in their own coach, but Green gets some rope to show that he is still this right choice for this group

While I think that effort / defensive structure are what need to change the most to improve the team, I agree with others that it is a very difficult year to make that change.

Not saying this will or even should happen, but I am coming to expect there will likely *some* move made within the next week or two

Not 100% of course but a big part of it.

I still believe Demko and Holtby will come around but you can tell they are straying from Clarkes teachings especially Demko who looked different last year late. Is what it is I'm a Dman blaming goalies is the way lol

Does the team have the money right now for a new deal? Aren't the Canucks front office and coaches still on reduced pay? If I were Green I would bet on myself and wait as long as possible knowing that if Van doesn't offer a good deal when they have cashflow, another team most likely will.

The fear is that 'move' will be ownership stating they are staying the course this season and JB being hamstrung (or incapable) of doing anything until the end of season.

How is that working out for him now? The entire city his calling for his termination.

His next team? What other team do you think would be willing to open up their wallets to pay him big money?

I don't disagree, the coaching selection hasn't been great the last couple tries (even though I love Torts ). That being said, I think you have to extend a coach before his final year. It just puts the whole dynamic in a weird place

Just spit balling here, perhaps some players have approached management and expressed their concerns.

He'll be an assistant next year, no one is going to race out to grab him and he can't sit at home waiting like Babcock because his contract is up

Hard to keep making saves when the odd man rushes and break aways are between 10-15 every game. It’s honestly hard to watch. It’s a combination of things going wrong, but this new defence we were all hopeful for is not panning out.

I thought the players were pissed with management for not 'keeping the team together'?
