Enough with this nonsense about the GM. How about the coach figuring out how to get some thing out of this group. What GMJR did was a kick in the balls. There is so much more to this story and i will stick to my theory that he wanted the entire coaching staff gone and was told no. He was very instrumental in our two cups but i have a memory loss issue!

I have no idea why anyone would ever hire Chaska for anything. He did absolutely nothing good with the Yotes, broke draft rules and then quit on them mid season.

Seems like the Con Artist type who just knows how to talk rich, dumb sports owners.

Yea, idk. Maybe the other GMs don't like him? Gotta have the personality to go along with the analytical side. Maybe he could be a good AGM.

Nah. He was so stubborn about his golden boy Mikey Sullivan, he fired the rest of the coaching staff and kept him...really, the head coach should be responsible for all of it and taken the fall as well...but Mikey is not leaving all that money on the table and resigning. Ignoring all of that though, you actually believe that with the Pens 4-2-1 the GM wanted to fire the coach?.... after only 7 games and with a winning record he wanted to axe the coach?

Most GMs and coaches have shelf lives. Yes both Ruth and Sully did a great job bringing us the two cups but its time now. Ruth destroyed Carolina after their cup so this is a blessing that he left.

Also what I heard was that Chayka was taking a job with Harris and Blitzer’s sports group, not specifically the devils.
- Victoro311

Ya you are onto it here. From what I know so far the job hes set up for is a major position in the organization that owns HBSE. (Devils, 76ers, Crystal Palace english premier league.) I dont have info on what the exact "job" would be but it sounds like its some sort of analytic/sports science/leadership position across those sports. Most likely a director of analytics for 2-3 sports.

Chayka is an absolute twaat in my opinion and Ive said that from the very start when he was hired. Him and his wife own like 15 Wendys franchises so hes good with like ownership level talks/business etc. He played a massive role in convincing Alex Meruelo to buy the yotes. A major reason why Meruelo was so pissssed off when Chayka decided to duck out on him with no warnings or reasonings that also pisssed off some of the players as well and had a major impact of Hall having no interest in re signing there. Guys just an arrogant multi millionaire goof.

I just lifted all of this from the Rags blog:

"Bob McKenzie: Four or Five teams interested in DeAngelo, including Calgary, Detroit, LA, Anaheim.. Rangers not interested retaining back salary. McKenzie said if they can’t trade him DeAngelo would be bought out this off-season. "

"McKenzie added that the Southern California teams are also in the mix. Some of the names thrown out as possibly available, each one not necessarily as a 1:1 and additional assets possibly required, include: Staal (who says you can't go home again), Sam Bennett (who wants out but would be a kind of reclamation project), Maatta, Brown or Carter (no thanks, largely due to contract the next two years for each, though Brown or Carter might fill a role) or Hampus Lindholm (which would cost a solid prospect or first rounder, which might be too steep for the Blueshirts). Add in Ottawa, who is looking for a talent uplift and I know several want Derek Stepan back, though I am not one of them as unsure he has much left. But a maybe a return home would help his game."

Seems some teams dont care about the piece of sh!t stuff......but if those guys are actually available Id love the Pens to acquire one of Staal, Carter or Bennet. Would drastically improve our C/bottom 6 depth.

As a Sixers fan, I’m really hopeful that whatever role he gets with them usurps the total poop stain of a human Scott O’Niel’s job.

I read Bob's report on Tony D in that blog as well and some things just don't make sense.

On one hand the Rangers won't retain salary, but will buy him out if they can't move him? Then why not retain salary to get an asset? Buying him out is paying to not play him without anything in return.

Second, if they're making it known they'll buy him out after the season, why wouldn't teams just wait and sign him for dirt cheap next year rather than give anything of value and pay him more than they would if they just waited it out? If he's being paid by the Rangers, he's going to take less on the market.

Isn't the Staal Marc since Detroit was mentioned as one of the teams and says he can't go home again (the only Staal to play with the Rags AFAIK)? As for Carter, he is kind of toast and his contract is ridiculous for the next two years. Bennett sucks. He has zero goals and 1 assist in 9 games this year. He has broken 30 points once in his career 5 years ago. He has been a minus player every year. This is bottom of the barrel crap here.

Sounds like setting the stage for a negotiation.

I believe he's younger than 26, so his buyout figure is like 900k per year for two years. The Rags are basically saying "don't offer us crap or we'll just let him rot". Pretty much trying to create leverage in a situation where they don't have much.

I'm assuming if teams are trying to get him, they want him for this season. That's my guess anyway.

Good catch on the Staal.

Carter has more points than Geno in less games but not only that he was playing through a nasty injury for a few seasons that he had surgery for in this offseason. Says he's feeling better than he has in years. He plays both wings and C. Right handed shot and lots of PP experience...too bad about that contract though.

Bennet, while I think a change of scenery could boost him, as I just discovered isnt even playing C this season haha...perhaps he should be....

With Marino on covid list hopefully no one else on the team is. Who makes the playoffs after Washington Boston philly could come down to the team that sets protocols to keep their guys healthy.

My bets are the Ducks are the team to watch for Deangelo. Fully expect the rangers to retain some salary in any deal. Haven’t heard much about the flames at all but I’d expect them to be in the hunt.

Letang and Matheson both taking regular line rushes. You'd have to think they'll both play Saturday.

Of course I'm fully expecting POJ slips on some ice on the sidewalk and breaks his arm or something.

POJ-Letang
Matheson-Ruhwedel

That should be the play. Let’s see what we have in these players. How does POJ handle top tier assignments? Is Matheson actually viable in the second paring? Can Ruhwedel be relied upon to jump up to the second pairing if injuries hit? All questions that need to be answered as we evaluate the blue line ahead of the trade deadline and decide to what degree Pettersson is expendable.

I have a feeling Matheson is going to look really rough the first few games.

I also have a feeling against the well oiled/well coached team, thats given them fits the past few years, its not going to be pretty Saturday haha. Theyre not in top form yet but they always find a way to keep the Pens scoring low...
