I feel like Canada can find I better d man then Reilly. He’s like a really talented 3rd defender with good power play chops but theador, Hamilton and makar are better with the man advantage so what does he bring to the team that wouldn’t be better served by a player who can actually defend?

I think the defense as a whole seems weak when compared to previous olympic teams, especially the 2010. Niedemayer, Pronger, as the top pair, plus in their prime Weber, Seabrook, Keith and a young Doughty, plus 27 year old Bouwmeester as a reserve. I think anyone mentioned today would be hard pressed to even make the reserve of the 2010 team. Doughty today doesn't make that team.

Didn't Dubas' re-sign Malgin, too?

Rielly is a “tweener” that the media thought Barrie was.

He’s in between a forward and a defenceman. Has elite skating and first pass. After that it’s gets a little fuzzy.

If I were the GM I would love to re up him at the same contract, but wouldn’t go above 6.5mm on a long term deal. He has the potential to be great but hasn’t broken through to that next level to earn himself a next level contract.
