Thank god. We needed that.

Still...not a very pretty game at all.

That was much needed. Need to string a few in a row now.

Welcome to the Islander fan experience. It's never easy.

Good win. I still wish they could lock games down and make them boring, but a win is a win!

More good than bad, but yeah, quite sloppy at times.

Here’s hoping they can build off the positive result.

Being a puck possession team, they always try to make these soft outlet passes that are manageable for their forwards. The problem is those soft passes are constantly being picked off and turned in to scoring opportunities. It's hurt them so many times this season.

Defense optional for both teams.

They still gave up way too many chances and need to cut back on those

Defense does need to tighten up. Even during the Philly series in the playoffs they were exposed a little. They miss a crease clearer like Boychuk.

It’s about all 5 playing team D in all 3 zones. That’s what they have been lacking at lately.

This is true. Forwards need to be better as well. Islanders still have trouble clearing out the front of the net though. Defensemen need to be tougher.

Really can’t Clear the front like in the old days with a knock down cros check from behind or a stick between the legs. You have to have body position on your man and tie up their stick. It’s about technique more so then brute force really.
Also their zone exit/first passes out of the D Zone have been terrible this year.
Just my opinion of course.

It was fun seeing Bam Bam and Gordie Lane clear the front of the net back in the day. Even players like Jonsson and Pearson were very good at it. It does need to be more technique now. Philly got back into that playoff series last year by parking themselves in front of the net and getting deflection type goals.

Agreed.
In the same breath so did we. Especially in the POs the greasy, dirty goals are what you need.
