I think the whole “learning how to win the cup” narrative is so overstated. - Canada Cup

Yeah so he could gain so much more experience and teach others how to win a cup because there is a secret formula that only a player can possess and pass on. - Santo_44
No.
So he'd actually win a cup.

I think the idea that it can come from others is overstated. Yes.
I do think players do need to live the adversity that comes with the playoffs to learn how to win it all eventually.

Some playoffs experience in a team like the Leafs - yes, much needed!
But not from the quiet guy in the corner...

Third year was more painful.
and I would still like to see any evidence whatsoever that he helped in any way.
Being a gud pro comes from maturity, experience, and an inner drive. I am sure that veterans can help explain the day to day routines, pitfalls to avoid with the media and being on the road, etc ... but ANY vet, and even the coaches can help with that. They don't make the young guys want it any more or work any harder.
The ONE thing Thornton an Marleau may have been able to explain is how your career can go by way too fast and at some point you run out of chances at a cup...
even that I bet didnt help our young guys. I see very little progression in their games TBH. - Aetherial
3rd year? Didn’t Patty only play 2? |

There’s so many variables in surviving a long playoff run. I’m sure there are lessons to be learned on sustaining themselves, keeping an even keel, going for all the cliches. Still a bit early for the baby Leafs to have learned any of those.
But yeah, I want guys in the locker room that have things to say even if they’re not from the “how to win the Cup” book. Thornton from what I hear brings that |

Does anybody else think that Trump’s lawyers should just go with the argument that it would be wrong to try him as an adult? |

If I were them, I'd go with not mentally able to make own decisions.

I was in a football pool for about 15 years.
I finally had to quit, because I could never remember to get my picks in for the Thursday night games.

I know we are all having a good laugh about how incompetent his legal team is, but let's not forget that there's absolutely no chance whatsoever that 16 Republican Senators cross the floor, so really, who the frank cares what argument they go with?
He'll be acquitted. |

I'd like to know how Mitt Romney managed to avoid the ritualistic castration that they all had to go through when getting elected as a Republican |

Do you think NY State let's him off the hook? How about his niece? Acquitted maybe on the impeachment, outside of that think perpetual rectal exams on the rough side.

Of he’ll be acquitted but I guess the arguments still matter if they make what he did look more culpable and the Republicans more craven |
