It's a tough spot to be in. I wouldn't say these guys have bad contracts, but they are grossly under-forming them. NSH didn't make bad decisions, but they were good decisions that just didn't pan out.
It's weird position to be in because aside from Rinne, nobody on your team is old, so the first thought of a rebuild seems silly, but if you think about year after year of tweaks that won't work you could wind up looking back and thinking it was better to sell of the whole thing.
On a side note, this is a bad season to judge anything on. It's very hard to gauge if everything is a result of a weird year or a real decline. Us Pens' fans are wondering that with some of our players. - Rinosaur
I'd trade Josi (though I have no idea who I'd target to replace him) - the Pens beat them with a lessor D than they would have afterward (though it was sans Joey)
Then I'd see how much Florida would retain in a trade for Bob and also try really hard to find someone who was unpleasant when losing (to everyone, teammates included) who could at least play in the middle six.
This isn’t new info. He has mentioned it many times before and some posters even had the album cover and some photos of Ek up. Don’t you recall when Ek was a big musician and he turned down a date with the one and only Shania?? - TurdFergeson

maybe, but I'd like to see how a new regime would handle it. burning it down seems extreme at this point - farooge
A new regime? Sorry. Blow it up. I'd start with Saros right now. A team like Edmonton might offer Smith as a warm body along with an attractive pick or prospect. Haula goes as a deadline rental. Josi has a NMC, but once the expansion draft is done I would move Ekholm who is on a great contract. Johansen and Duchene can't be moved but maybe you look at moving Forsberg or Arvidsson for more futures. Overall it's a disaster.

I know he has a NMC, I was just spitballing what I think would have the most impact without 'blowing it up'
I'm not sold on that being a requirement anymore personally. Not in a "now vs then" way but in an "I'm not sure it was ever actually required" way.
I think most players can thrive in the right environment.
8 paragraphs of nonsense about his "recording career" before he finally got to the hockey. Jeezuz, man. Unless you're gonna post YouTube links so we can laugh at your music, no one cares. "Me! Me! Me! Me! Me!" It's like you're 8. Smh - PavohnDatsvares

I'm starting to wonder if Ryan Sittler got a hold of David Poile's time machine. So even though the Nashville Knights never even played the Charlotte Checkers in their final season, and even though Sittler never joined the Checkers until 2 years after the Knights folded, maybe Sittler went back to 1996 and took the Checkers with him? I know if I had that power I would also make myself the leading scorer rather than sitting 14th on the team.
Never fly in Philly? Then how do you explain 2 guys making 17 million dollars and have 3 goals between them and NO ONE is making a big deal about it?? - FlyersRdumb
Giroux and Voracek? Didn't some reporter try and Voracek literally killed his entire family? Also they've got plenty of apples and the team is off to a good start.
If they were such good hockey fans then why do they need to print off and place in seats how to cheer and explain icing and offsides?
They show up and they have built fans but they still have a long way to go.
If Poille was so smart why did he pay Duchense so much??? Colorado was happy to send him away after he celebrated a goal in a game they were losing. Ottawa was too happy to send him off after cabgate.
This is an example of an article that’s a steaming pile of you know what. Especially considering it’s filled with factually incorrect information on numerous fronts. Truly embarrassing lol
Also, fans are upset about the lack of future direction for this franchise. We're much closer to Detroit and to Tampa Bay. Poile seems to be reliving his laurels from three to four seasons back, not rationalizing the current situation of a mediocre team.
