David Poile is as mediocre of a General Manager in the NHL as you'll ever find. The guys been a full-time GM for almost 40 years in the league and he's never won jack poop.

Sure he's won the most games as a GM, but come on, he's been a GM for almost 40 years. There are National Hockey League GM's who's been more successful with six years under their belts. Sorry, he's part of the problem, not the solution.

Seriously, it's not a matter of who is scoring and not scoring as much as how the team is playing overall. No idea what's going on in Nashville but with John Hynes as coach I'm sure his crappy brand of hockey is driving everyone nuts. Thank god we got rid of that guy!

...including what would turn out to be the FINAL game in the franchise history. It was fan appreciation night and they were giving away their jerseys. I actually won a jersey. Side note...They were playing the Charlotte Checkers with their leading scorer, a young Ryan Sittler...who oddly enough grew up in my hometown of Cherry Hill, NJ and knew (and may have dated) my sister for a brief time......

The Nashville Knights folded in 1996. Ryan Sittler played for the Charlotte Checkers in the '98-'99 season. He was the 14th leading scorer on the team.

I watch every Devil game, they are my team. PK sucks.

It seems there is a 60% chance he'll mess something up when the puck is on is stick. He lost his offensive game. He tries to beat guys one on one coming out if his zone, loses the puck way too much.

If he would just focus on playing Defense and use that great stretch pass he has he would be much more effective.

I'll admit to not grokking the finer points of the game (and I've only seen 2 Devils games this year) and maybe I have a slight confirmation bias ... so I'll watch a few more and see if I agree with you.

It's not their fault, it's the coach's fault. Hynes was terrible in NJ and he's terrible in Nashville. Idk why on the planet earth they brought him in for the playoff run/disaster.. a guy who led the Devils to the dumpster over and over. Yes, I'm still bitter him letting the Yotes win that series bumped the Devils pick from AZ from 10th (or 11th?) down to freaking 18th. Any other coach would've won that series. The Preds looked just like the Devils on the ice.. players not knowing how to hockey, making stupid decisions and a dumb system. Hynes is at it again. What a dumb GM to bring in a terrible coach with NO track record of success to a veteran team that should've been competitive in the playoffs.

Why aren't we keying on the real crux of Ek's story? He recorded an album in Nashville in 1996. We NEED this record!

Have you been reading my posts EK, because a lot of the backend of this blog seems to be lifted straight out of what I've been complaining about for more than two years now. Nashville fans are angry, tough I'd say I've traveled passed the point of angry to feeling more frustrated and disappointed. Nothing ever changes, the team has had the same issues for the last three years. The biggest of those problems is the massive sense of entitlement and lack of drive and effort we've seen from some of these players on the ice, and quite frankly, it makes them hard to watch sometimes. There's no accountability, only occasional scapegoating, and anybody that does get replaced gets replaced by basically an exact replica of themselves, and then management wonders why the results never change. When the talent is there, the effort isn't. When the effort is there, the talent is lacking. Hynes should've never been hired in the first place, it's cronyism 101. Because Poile will only hire coaches he's comfortable with or had a previous relationship with, so let's hire the guy that just got fired a month ago, even though his system is the complete antithesis to the roster you've0 built to go with the system of the previous coach. Brilliant.

Some Preds fans still have cup brain, but for most of us, it's worn off. The bulletproof glass encasing Poile hasn't quite fractured yet, some still have a lot of faith in him. I think it's time for him to step down, or for management to finally part ways with him. He was a great GM for the early days of the franchise when he put together a fairly routinely competitive team on no budget in a league where he was fighting an uphill battle of indifference from the rest of the NHL and even in his own market, and wound up briefly turning that team into a cup contender, and a franchise that's now been embraced into the fabric of the city of Nashville. He deserves all the credit in the world for that, but that shouldn't earn him immunity for life. When the ownership opened up the check book for him, he didn't really seem to know what to do with it. He becomes too infatuated with certain players, overpays for others who just aren't worth it, and despite not being afraid to throw around money where needed, still hasn't quite gotten over that bargain basement mentality he had to use in the early days of the franchise. For every great to good move he's made, I can count 5 that range for meh to WTF is he thinking! Oh, and he can't draft forward talent worth a crap... The last forward he drafted high that made any significant impact on the team was Scott Hartnell.

I was looking forward to the team finally commit to a youth movement and see some of the young guys get to play this year. Instead, he hires a couple of rent-a-players last minute, and I get to watch reruns of the same crap I've been witnessing for the last three years, just with different names on some of the jerseys. We're far beyond mad here Ek... Just because we're not as loud as Toronto and Montreal doesn't mean we're not upset.

Last night was the first game he didn't bother putting on a jersey for. I think he only watched till the end b/c he got to say up a little past his normal bedtime tbh. And he was on his phone a lot (which isn't normal during a Preds game)
