Wow, I cant imagine someone doesn't claim him. The guy was 4th in goals and points among defensemen last season.

Must be some really messed up stuff happening in NYC.

Well it’s been said DeAngelo isn’t the greatest of people to deal with. I guess he was suspended for racial slurs in the OHL. I saw a clip of his father saying he grew up in south Philly and these slurs are natural to them. Major Trump guy, so I guess he has big opinions there that might rub people the wrong way, especially with New York being a major focus sports market.

This is prob what happened or it’s related to this. It certainly weakens the Rangers. You’d think they’d be able to trade him for something unless he’s getting his contract voided and suspended Kinda thing. He’s a right handed shot young dman.

He plays a solid heavy game. Gets under guys skin too.

The kind of guy you want in the POs when whistles get swallowed.

He kills you on the regular season with the penalties tho.

If DeAngelo bothered to play defense and learned to shut his (frank)ing mouth, he'd be a pretty decent NHL player

I could be way off base but wasn't his playoff stats like 1st line level every time they got there but plays like a 3rd liner regular season ?

If he made a racist comment towards Miller I think this is without question the right decision. You dont tolerate it. You dont trade it. You just eat whatever happens and move on. Though last night it was reported rangers started making a huge push for Dunn. Which makes complete sense as a replacement for deangelo.

Is he better than Braun?
Is he better than Gustafsson?
Is he better than Hagg?

If the answer is yes to any of these questions then you put a claim in if you can afford to.

Bunnaman really responded w/ that extra ice time.

Starting to look like he's gonna shape into a player.

And Phil Myers

- Tomahawk

Yes. agree, Bunnaman looks good in the 4th line center role.

Can he learn to do both under AV and Fletcher? If so, I say do it.

Vegas is not going to move Martinez
- MJL

Vegas has probably the best top 4 in the league ... I agree, why would they mess with this?

How you gonna clear the ~$5M AAV to fit him in?

We cant afford to first and foremost. Hes a more talented offensively gus with the same defensive deficiencies and a bad attitude / racist mouth.

Teams who can afford him: ottawa, NJ, kings, Ducks, hawks, red wings, sharks, blues

Some of those teams like the blues are due to LTIR and will need the cap space later so realistically theyre out.

If you want an extremely talented offensive d man that isn't racist and on a better contract dunn is only a phone call and a first rounder away

Even with Couts and Niskanen last season we were struggling getting shots. I don’t know if this is the system or just in the players heads with pass first mentality.
- Buzzo

I think you are on to something, I do see these players as deferring more than leading, meaning they are looking to pass way too much. We don't have any forwards with the shoot first mindset, that confidence that says "I'm going to make something happen". This is serious gap with the forward group of the Flyers.

Absolutely not . We have a tight group, don’t need some douche bag coming in and ruffling feathers

Let's be clear. We can't do it. We need 4.7 million more in cap to be able to do it. So lets stop even entertaining it.

NYI dont have better players than the Flyers. Flyers players are more skilled than the Isles. Trotz knows he doesnt have the most skilled group so he wins games with a heavy forecheck and tight defense. On paper the Isles are not a playoff team. However they were able to put themselves in a playoff spot by being able to play team defense and capitalizing on turnovers.

They are getting scorched defensively through the neutral zone. They are sending two attackers in deep and other teams are easily able to pass out of it and attack us with speed through the neutral zone. However our dzone coverages have been outstanding with all the zone time they are allowing
- Just5

Yes, this is a really good point. The Flyers this year have moved to a 2-1-2 forecheck but I don't believe they have the players to pull this off successfully. Thus you are seeing what you saw last night, teams are able to gain speed in the neutral zone, dump the puck behind the Flyers D and then pinning them into their D-zone.

I didn’t look at the cap. I wrote if they can afford to, then they should put the claim in.

If they can’t they can’t.

Let the tire fire in our own zone continue.
