In that case it would play a factor, making a trade for a potential 1 year rental - ClaudeFather
I think they will steer away from any 1 yr rental players if they have to give up Significant assets. They’re just not in that realm yet. Maybe fletch is waiting until after expansion to become more aggressive. |

that is really it, expansion and flat cap are huge this season. I hate to say it but patience is needed, not sense in coming this far and making a mistake now.

I think I’m the only person here who doesn’t get or understand this old chemistry of Provorov and Ghost. If this pair was ever ideal, they never would have been split up. To my memory, they were put together late in 2018 and heading into the playoffs but were never a long term pair. - SuperSchennBros
I'm not exactly sure what year it was, I just remember Ghost playing well and them playing well together. Regardless I'm sure we can agree that it would be a huge benefit if Ghost could fit well into that slot and maintain it.

In my view, this is why fletch wasn’t aggressive in the offseason. You don’t want to get a ufa that makes you lose a young player that you’re not sure on yet. Stay the course. I’m ok with patience if it means we win the cup. |

Haha. Someone will now not pick the details of my statement.
I wonder how far away York is? If he has a shot to make the team next year, then maybe we’re not aggressive this offseason. It’s been discussed as nauseum, but If nisky doesn’t retire early, we’re prob in good shape. |

Well they did try for AP and Brodie so that is somewhat aggressive. Just didn’t pan out; that tells me he has no issue protecting 4 defenseman or then possibly trying to trade one of Myers or Sanheim. |

It appears that York is a work out freak so I think you do see him the end of the college season. I don't think that he will go next to Provy but he will bring balance to the D. He seems to be a 2 way D, calm, good skater etc. Then you have Zamula, it will be fun watching him in the A and then his off season. I think his metabolism is a lot like Sanheims, I think adding weight for his size will take some time. If all goes well that makes Braun and Hagg expendable. If all goes well then 2 years is the mark.
Provy in his prime and leader of the D
Sanheim with added weight and in his prime
Myers 3 years experience
York and Zamula with 2-3 of pro experience.
That slots well for the D and allows Ghost to play a hand picked roll

I think the Flyers need something along the lines of a Jamie Oleksiak, Jake Muzzin Colton Parayko or Rasmus Ristolainen in my opinion to pair with Provorov. - SuperSchennBros
I agree and would welcome any of the above listed. I’d also add Jordie Benn or Travis Hamonic from VAN to that list. My preference would be Oleksiak or Muzzin, for sure. |

Oleksiak had one good season, I would be mortified if we went out and got him. |

For the right price, he would be a solid addition. He’s exactly the type of dman, size-and physicality-wise the Flyers sought when drafting Morin. There would be zero downside in adding Oleksiak to our d-line.

This is what O’Connor said about Ristolainen recently when a fan asked about pursuing him:
“ . Trust me, you don't want Rasmus Ristolainen. I agree he was good in this two-game series, but historically he's basically been a more physical Andrew MacDonald who is good on the power play. His underlying numbers are notoriously horrific in a top-pair role, and considering he has a $5.2 mil cap hit, it wouldn't make sense to acquire him just to be a 3rd pair defenseman, either.
Flyers should stay far, far away from this guy.” |

O'Conner is another in a line of guys who have no understanding that underlying numbers are team numbers, not individual numbers. Good players on bad teams can have bad numbers. Put him on a good team and see what happens with those numbers. I'm not saying I want the Flyers to add Ristolainen but those numbers are not a legitimate reason to not consider him.

If ghost plays 22+ a night as a capable top pairing partner and pp2 for the rest this season you mine as well pack his bags for Seattle. |

If he plays that well, what’s to say a team doesn’t overpay for him at the deadline? |

Interesting article in The Athletic about team averages (height, Weight, age etc)
Flyers are the 7th youngest team in the league (avg age 26.9)
The 13th tallest team at 73.3 inches.
The 26th (!) ranked team in weight at 195.6 lbs.
17th in average draft position of players on their roster at 58.5.

could be and I hope he plays 22 a night but there will be options if they want to keep him and if everything works out for prospects even losing him wont be the end of the world.

They’d most likely keep him for a run, but If he’s playing that well and they’re not in a playoff spot it would have to be considered. Also depends on what a team is willing to pay.
As much as I have faith in this team, there’s every chance that we don’t make top 4 in this division. Do you hold onto him in hopes that he’s not selected? |

Yes and the weight and height thing should balance as our kids mature. Tall but thin or just thin. |
