Or maybe Mario saw what we all saw and had a Frank conversation with the Old Man about how much good he’s done for the organization but that it was time.

If not health related, my thoughts as well.

Seems like this would be a Burkle type move. I've always felt he drives the ship when it comes to management moves. When they dumped Shero and Bylsma, Burkle was pretty vocal how he thought they kept them too long.

Maybe Jim was looking at another "unwise" move and Burkle/Mario said no.

It isn't health related. For the best of both parties I think. Tenure was marred by extremes- both incredibly brilliant and totally detrimental. Time to move on. Thanks Jim! Best of luck going forward. Hopefully The Swedish Chief can put together a good run.

he's had some great moves for the first cup run which i saw as his high point but the last 2 years...disappointing.

Long overdue but better late than never.

LeBrun’s tweet makes it sound like we want to make a permanent hire sooner rather than later.

Listening to the radio....

Reporters are saying it's not health related and he's not being forced out.

Maybe this rash of injuries just put him over the edge. He's an older guy. This pandemic has REALLY, REALLY taxed older people.

Yeah true. Either way maybe I can parlay the good juju of my Sixers poaching Daryl Morey into another knock out GM hire.

Between Jankowski, Rodrigues, Ceci, and probably Matheson this team still has plenty of dead weight.

Upper bound of expectations. Sullivan seems deadset on easing him in so no sample with Sid yet, but he was excellent playing in the bottom 6 and looked good with Malkin after getting a promotion up. So a solid middle 6 guy that can third wheel a top 6 scoring line.

A lot of players that were off the table may be in play now. Not sure how they move that one though unless he comes back and plays well.

On this team, It's a good fit for the cap hit. He looks good. Scored the tying goal last night getting around the dman with his speed. Almost had a breakaway goal too. He's boosted every line he's been on.

If it wasnt for a fresh 4 year contract signed last season and revenues being in the absolute sh!tter because of Covid, I'd say Sullivans days are really numbered...but because of those factors he could be around for a while yet.

My guess is the final straw was when JR went to Mario with a brilliant plan to trade for this Hornqvist guy who is lighting it up in FL

Long shot but it could have something to do with the Donatelli debacle.

Despite all that... RW will still rip on Tanev being slightly overpaid. and F that noise... Tanev is worth every penny

I think people overrate Tanev because he’s a lot of fun to watch. I will admit that he’s not as overpaid as I thought when we signed him, but 3.5 is a chunk of change for a guy that doesn’t really score. I’m fine with the overpayment now though. I think he’s a good player and far down the list of what’s holding this team back.
