The best was Joe trying to blame Tony for Trouba missing a very simple puck back to him
- mdw7413

I don't think it was a terrible thing to point out since it might have closed the gap significantly but Tony almost made it back despite being *maybe* slightly out of position. That is on Trouba all day every day. Weak ass female dog of a backhand attempt. He should have slammed his body into the boards to stop that from happening if that's what it would take.

Tony did suck there too though

what in the hell is Tony doing out there, anything?

- jimbro83

Yea honestly I haven't noticed him once on the ice yet all season. Has he done anything productive? I kind of forget he is on the team at times

How did he suck, he is at the other point and hustles his ass back because Trouba can't accept an easy pass.

Is Tony supposed to stand behind Trouba on every PP?

I think he's had some good looks on the offensive side. I don't think it's fair to judge him individually when the team is in dumpster fire mode. Tony is what he is, a defensively flawed offensive D-man.

How is Washington 2-0-1 without Ovi, Kuznetsov, Orlov, Wilson and Samsanov?

Thats thing, playing tough is a mentality, it doesn't matter how small or big you are. Since Jimbo brought him up, look at Zuke, the mother(frank)er was 3' tall but played tough.
- mdw7413

I never mentioned anyones size. Just saying, who are the “tough” guys to play against?

At no point does anyone get on the ice, look across at the Rangers and think “were in for a long day/night”.

Yeah, its a mentality, and they all play soft with a few individual exceptions. I don't think a coach changes that. If the offense isn't dynamic, don't expect this team to grind out wins. They are like puddin

Much as it pains me to say it, Joe the Mook was right there.
As a D man, when your partner closes in on the boards and pinches in like that to contain the play, you have to be in the middle of the ice positioned as the "last man" to prevent just what happened.
Instead, Tony stood still almost against the far boards.
Is it his fault, Trouba missed it? Of course not. But, that doesn't absolve him from blame for not doing what he's supposed to.
In baseball, if there's a bad throw to the plate and the pitcher isn't backing up the catcher and a 2nd run scores, that's on the pitcher.

If Trouba could hold his own, I liked the nickname "Twin Towers" for that pairing.

Man, Miller looks real good. Makes me rethink the idea of trading Nils.

- Bean_Dip

Easy there, Mr. Bean.
We need Nils to replace some of the other poop that is patrolling our blueline!!!

Too far spread apart, if one D is against the boards the other one shouldn't be at the other boards, he should be in the middle of the ice. But yea it still was a weak play by Trouba.

we don't need Tony D with Fox on the team, that's the reality

if Tony D isn't quarterbacking PP1, what good is he?

He wasn't even pinching, he was basically at the blue line and missed an easy puck on the PP.

Trouba (frank)ing sucks. End of story.

I can live with that, but even if he is in the middle of the ice, there was no guarantee he would have caught the player in full stride blowing by Trouba like a traffic cone. Trouba is 100% at fault for that goal

Trouba also took a second or two to realize what was happening before he started slowly skating. Tony took off right away.
