Payday Marino has looked dreadful this season, fancy stats be damned. Once again proof that you shouldn't anoint anybody as anything until they're truly proven. I look at Olli Mattaa, I look at Colby Armstrong. Both were shipped out of town and I fear that fate is next for Payday.

Army never really got paid. And had a decent few years before concussions ended him.

E rod got hurt. That’s the only reason for the shakeup. Who is playing with Tanev and Blueger?

I forgot about McCann, if Malkin could get his poop together that’s a solid top nine and with Scevior being able to bang in around the crease not a bad forward group.

Yea I like our third line a lot. Blueger has stepped up and Tanev is where he should have been already with some top 6 spot play for a jolt. I also like Jankowski I think he'll be good as the 4c with Scevior and we'll see what we have in O'Conner.

The fancy stats also say he has been bad.

Some people think it doesn’t matter but Jarrys puck playing ability is on a complete different level then Murray’s as well.

He does stand out as being able to play the puck particularly well sometimes...he also spends as much time flopping around on his ass as sheary and maatta combined

I think Marino will come around. He is a good skater and a smart player who is playing with different partners and on his opposite side. Will he live up to $4.4M per? Who knows, but at worst I think it's a slight overpayment. Maatta's lack of speed was always his Achilles heel so if any other part of his game faltered or if he lost more speed, you could see his downfall coming from a mile away. Quite similar to Murray, really. Maatta is another player the juggernaut Pens teams covered up.

You’re right about the money but after his rookie year when I think he scored like 17ish goals everyone in Pittsburgh thought he was gonna be some kind of special with 87. Was a first liner until we got Hossa

I was going to predict Boston 4-1, but I figured no one wanted to hear that.

We look pretty good so far against a good Boston team.
