Looking like O'Connor will draw into lineup this eve...loving the fresh rookie looks we've been getting so far.

Nice. He was practicing on the 2nd pp yesterday so I was hoping he was chosen. Hope he brings his A game! |

You think he starts the third? Haha. He's been so bad. I know the Sens suck but good goalies find a way every once in a while to come up with not letting in 3+ - 668710
Haha let's all laugh because Murray has a 4.47 GAA.
Meanwhile Jarry has a 4.28 GAA, so maybe we living in a glass house here. |

Jesse Marshall just wrote an article on Geno. Anyone got the cliff notes? - j.boyd919
Haven’t read it yet but from the sounds of his tweet teasing it last night it is dire. |

I advocated trading Fleury when it was time, and I advocated trading Murray when it was time. I’ll once again advocate trading Jarry when an internal cheaper starting option presents itself. But I will never in a million years understand this fanbase’s schadenfreude in reveling in the failings of goalies who won cups for us. |

I'm dying to know what Marshall is saying about Geno.
RW's next blog, or the one after, will probably reference it. |

It’s very bizarre. What’s even more bizarre is the level of dissatisfaction from fans with MAF when he was here, the constant whining about him choking, followed by the criticism that trading him was a mistake.

Ok I read it. Spark notes:
The stats match the eye test. He’s having an absolutely abysmal season to date. He’s something like 370th in game score and also really bad in individual quality chance generation. His impact on team defense is also crazy negative. Like Jack Johnson level negative. Marshall then uses video analysis to argue that the defensive impact is because he’s trying too hard to generate offense and essentially has the yips, not necessarily laziness. He also suggests that Geno’s struggles are correlated with Marino’s who’s his most common defensive partner. |

Thank you sir.
How does Marshall feel about him getting out of this early funk, I wonder.... |

Basically, Malkin is trying so hard to generate offense, he’s turned into a mess.
“What we see here is a 34 percent swing with and without Malkin on the ice. That is a drastic change in performance, specifically in the quality allowed between the circles in the slot area. The Penguins aren’t just a slightly worse defensive team with Malkin on the ice this season, it’s like they are a completely different team.”
“Whatever the case, Malkin’s pressing is evident and it’s affecting his game and approach, specifically in the defensive zone. Sometimes less can be more. The challenge for Malkin is to find the right recipe for pressing and living to fight another day. For the coaching staff, there might be a larger conversation to be had about Malkin’s deployment and the best defensemen to play with him.” |

I don’t think it’ll be a silver bullet that fixes Malkin or anything, but Cody Ceci logged like a bottom 10 game in game score for this season to date last game. You can’t make Marino play his off side AND give him a partner that bad. There is no other choice but to throw POJ to the wolves and see if he can handle a second paring role with Marino because the current set up is untenable. |

I honestly feel bad for Murray, the passing of his dad hit him real hard. I want all our guys to do good. Obviously was rooting for Flower in that cup finals. But yea, Murray hasn't gotten it fully together since his dad passed. Sure he's had some stretches but nowhere near what he was.. |

Thanks for sharing the info btw, appreciate it! Marino needs to be back on the left even if he plays with Ceci. Ceci gonna Ceci whichever side he's on haha. |

I agree it wont be a silver bullet but the on ice product is suffering way too much with them on the ice in that set up...and unfortunately for Geno, he's getting the bulk of their deployments. For someone who has a very shaky confidence, and isn't playing that great as an individual, that set up is disastrous in many ways for Geno and the team as a whole.
There is one other option that Hockey66 and I alluded to yesterday and that is scratch Ceci and put Kevin Cuuz in the lineup. He's a lefty and you go with either:
Cuuz/PO-Marino
Cuuz/PO- Rudy |

Do we really think there'd be much of any drop off from Ceci to Cuuz? hahah nah...especially with it meaning Marino could play his natural side. The defense as a whole would most likely improve. |

For the money MM is getting, 4.47 GAA is absolutely horrendous. If keeps this up, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets bought out.
Yes, Jarry had 2 bad games but maybe bouncing back somewhat. MM seems to be getting worse. I. for one, am glad that MM is someone else's problem. He is very mediocre - horrendous glove hand, bad rebound control.

For Cuuz to come up to the roster from taxi would someone have to go on waivers?...while I really can't see anyone claiming Ceci if he hit waivers I also really can't see JR putting him on them. |
