Geno was real bad last night. Obviously it's one game, but yea he was basically turning the puck over every time. He'll be ok though. - 668710
Really? He was only credited with one giveaway the whole game.
Although I did miss last nights game, so he may have been rough, statistically it wasn't his best either.

It sucks, and certainly isnt ideal, but someone has to be on their off side on D right now. When I think of the candidates I think Marino, with his skating, smarts and way he can maneuver his body, is the best out of him, Ceci, Joseph or Rudy to do so. - MattStrat
I get that. Like any industry you rely on the best guy to compensate elsewhere and that’s why Marino is tasked with playing his offside. But he is also struggling and may not be up to it. |

I would go with:
Dumo - Letang
POJ - Marino
Czuczman - Ruh
until one of the other LDs is back. See if POJ - Marino is a thing. Imagine that going foward! |

I'd put Ruh on his offside. He barely does anything anyways. He's just solid. Let Marino make the plays and be on his correct side. Don't neuter the star player. |

Looks like three #NYR 2020 draft picks will start the season with AHL Hartford while waiting for their junior league seasons to begin- D Braden Schneider, F Will Cuylle and G Dylan Garand
This means that Légaré and Poulin can play in the Ahl until the CHL starts and doesn’t affect their contracts as it’s an emergency basis kind of thing. I know I mentioned this before but hadn’t heard anything other than some Canadian beat reporters. So it looks like this ahl thing will be a go. |

Yea that turnover stat is not correct. Now I'm not gonna poop on Geno because he'll bounce back, but yea last night was rough. |

Yeah, he may not be. I dont think Sully cares that much if they're winning.
I guess they could always scratch Ceci for Kevin Cuuz and go:
Dumo-Tang
PO Joe-Marino
Cuuz-Rudy
Then everyone is on their right side. The rookie gets top 4 mins then though, might be a disaster, might not. He's had a few blunders but otherwise has been pretty damn solid for his first two NHL games. |

Thanks for sharing, good news. See what Poulin and Legare can do in the A. |

To me it looked like he was falling back into his habit of trying to do too much by himself in order to get out of a funk. He is one of the best in the game at shielding the puck and maintaining possession, though. Just not connecting with his linemates at the moment. NYR played a pretty good game, too. |

Now this setup I could get behind. Honestly I’d even try Czuczman with Marino if it meant not playing Ceci at this point. Another boneheaded penalty along with his less than stellar play should be enough reason to give Czuczman a shot on the bottom pairing while Ceci sits. POJ certainly looks capable of being able to tread water on a second pairing as well. |

Yeah, and it was Ceci's mark that scored both goals, too. He really is JJ 2.0. Time to cut bait on him. |

The portions I watched he truly looks slow and struggling out there. How much of that is not having a real off season and how much of that is aging curve, I don’t know, but it’s concerning regardless. |

With regards to Geno, he had one of this best statistical seasons last season averaging 1.34 points per game. I just don't see it being a steep age curve only 10 months later, when he finished off last March with 11 points in 5 games. I see it in his face, his head (confidence) is a little shot, like it has been many times before.
We have to expect his production to start dropping...but not to 0.33 points per game this quick. |

Geno will get back. I actually love that they put Kap with Geno because Rust clearly wasn't working on Geno's line. Guentz-Sid-Rust looked good. Kap needs to not defer to Geno though and do what he was doing with Blueger. I think that will help Geno out by taking attention off Geno by using his speed and shot. |

Ennis and Pateryn on waivers. Very hard pass on Ennis for me but I’ve always liked pateryns game. 2.25 mill is a bit steep for 3rd pair RD though |

Are you implying that I would just trade them away for nothing? Their friendly contracts make them more tradable opening up the pool of players I could trade for. If I need a 3C down the road, having that Dumo on a good contract up my sleeve could be handy. If I don’t need to trade them then I have friendly contracts on my roster. Where is the downside again? - stackthepads
I think you’re just missing what I’m pointing out. Not sure how to make it more clear.
The Pens window is closing fast.
I get that Dumo and Petts are attractive pieces you can use to pick up upgrades, but the time it's going to take to find out if Matheson figures it out is time you're wasting of the window when you could have addressed those needs NOW.
Who cares about next year? Burn a year just to see if a player you didn't need makes other players expendable?
Even if Matheson was healthy, you're wasting time to find out if he improves here when you could have had a stronger bottom-six going in to this season. The Pens Defense was set without him.
Again, I just don't get the logic. |

I feel the opposite - I would take Ennis but hard pass on Pateryn. Ennis would add nice center depth. |

Ennis was player I hoped the Pens would pursue this past off season. |

Agreed. Ennis would be a solid depth addition based on recent years. I’d rather keep Ruh. His play is satisfactory and you can’t beat his price point. |
