Didn’t you hear, the season is only 56 games. 56 is less than 82 I think.

Correct. If you recall before the seasons start I said Gaudette has no business at 3LC as of yet. You have a dedicated 3LC in Sutter and a 4LC in Beagle just use them properly and surround them with the proper wingers. Christ it's not that hard lol. Rousell and JV look lost out there. Maybe Sven and LE are the answer?

lol

- LordHumungous

I’ve always had Gaudette’s back because he’s got a lot of try in him and he can provide some offence, however, the more I watch the more I realize he’s just not a good option at 3C for a team that expects to win.

A lot of print media guys saying the decline was predictable with A) the way the Canucks played last year relying on goaltending too much B) their poor defensive play which goes back to last year C) lack of changes in the bottom six, which is terrible offensively.

Don’t shoot the messenger, just what I read this morning. I predicted a step back if the goaltending wasn’t there, which it hasn’t been. I think we’re in for a long year.

- Pacificgem

I highly doubt that print media could predict the amount of awesome give aways and absolute lack of PP success.

JB has clear reason to do what he did this off season for the long term future of the club.

The players aren't clicking. First step is always a new coach.

I am nowhere close to wanting Loui and Sven back yet.

Gaudette's time will emerge but for right now Sutter skates much better and is sound defensively which we need at that role right now. Sutter covers much more ice than Gaudette at this point. Gaudette might pot a few more goals but is a massive liability at 3LC right now.

One of my biggest disappointments is JV. I’ve given him the benefit of doubt up to now but he does nothing. Even if TG has put him in a terrible position it’s up to JV to show some dominance and force the coach to put him in the top six.

Just another JB (frank) up.

Most people in here were on board with not giving Markstrom 6 years and 6 mil. They also said Toffoli is slow . I know I sure didn't want Tanev back.

Miller

- VanHockeyGuy

Horvat's comments were a bit more tempered. Miller's...

I mean, I think anyone would be pissed if that happened to their team. I think JB made smart long-term decisions for the most part, but it's definitely set the team back this year.

This next offseason is huge. Hopefully they don't mind shipping out some assets to get out from under a couple contracts/buy out people. If they buy out LE, Beagle, and get Seattle to take Myers, that leaves them with almost 37 million in cap space. (Edit: with a lot of players to sign, but still..)

Ya Vintsy's comment about JV dumping that puck in then changing was hilarious...but akin to where JV is right now. Zero Hockey sense and a million dollar set of legs and shot. Why he does not get mean and use his size is a mystery. A lot of what JV is is on the coach too unfortunately.

Sometimes you need a small band aid to close the wound a bit. Sven can score and LE can play defensively. I don't want it either I'm just saying expect it.

I'm very much on the opposite side of the tracks than you are.

Sutter and Beagle are still the biggest problems. They are just less of a problem apart.

I don't agree.

What does JV want to be? What has he shown or demonstrated he can be?

TG has had him in Utica, has had one on one video sessions with him to teach him, has had him play up and down the line up..

It's not like JV is a great goal scorer and he's planting him on the third line. Or that he's a great defensive player and he's only playing him in offensive situations.

JV just doesn't really do anything super well. And it's hard to maximize his skill set when he himself doesn't seem to want to use it.

I was ok bringing Marky back but no way at 6X6. I think Benning offered him 4X5.5 and Marky and his agent said no. So he can (frank) off. Sucks invested 5+ years in him and gave him his second chance and he left for the extra 500K. Bye.

Tanev I could care less. Time to move on.

Toffoli played 14 games and what Miller didn't say is that they won in the PO's when TT was hurt. So why would JB bring him back? makes no sense.

If they have to do that then Benning must be fired, as well.

All good and you make some good points. I just think an excellent coach can bring out some of his strengths and get him to the next level. I was never expecting him to be a top guy.

The hand is dealt, JB is witnessing the results of his decisions. I have an uncomfortable feeling Weisbrod is weaseling his way into position right now. Then we will be truly screwed.

The team clearly needs to rid itself of some of their garbage before they can move forward. IMO until the terrible contracts are cleaned up, the team will continue to regress.

If the Canucks were going to bring anyone back it was Tanev first for me.
