They may well need more, but I think trading McCann for another bottom 6 is just swapping deck chairs and hoping for a better result. Bottom 6 has been far from this team's biggest problem so far. - Tojo.
That's why I propose going all-in for someone like Henrique. |

Thank you. I an not advocating changing the make up of the team, nor am I calling for HCMS to be replaced. Not yet anyway. What I am saying is as this team so goes Sulli. Sullivan wants a speed team and he has one. If this team disappoints then Sullivan needs to be held responsible. - Thunderbolt
Honestly, I think Sullivan needs to go now. I think he's reached his shelf life. He's still a pretty good coach, but the team seems to be tuning him out. 3 playoff duds in a row too. I would try this before Rutherford goes crazy with the trades. |

The reason I'm not ready to dump Sullivan is he had a couple guys last year he did not like. Specifically Galchenyuk, Kahun, Hornqvist and JJ. They're all gone now, give Sully a little time. Obviously I have no idea what goes on in practice or meetings.
Rierdon can take over in the event Sullivan gets canned. So we have a back up plan. Your right Rutherford scares me also.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. I think it's past time but better late than before he torpedoes another season. |

Ehh..see I don't agree. Sully was at his best when he first came in and just played the best players he could. He only played the young guys that he coached in WBS. Now that he doesn't like certain players is damn annoying. |

I don't know about that. They got two disgruntled players. Roslovic will probably be ok since he got traded to his hometown, but Laine...he is close to the last player I can see getting along with Torts. Contract is up after this year - should be interesting in the off-season. All of this aside, I will take the good, big, young two-way center over an elite one-way winger. |

He's an RFA, they can get something good for him even if he doesn't work out there. Or they can fire Torts. You do realize the Blue Jackets GM is Finnish... Also I would take Laine/Roslovic over PLD and a third all day. |

I think PLD is easily the best player in the trade, so I disagree. If Roslovic becomes a 2C, which I highly doubt, my opinion might change. I think he ends up being a bottom six winger. Maybe a 2/3 tweener. Also, PLD has been a better playoff performer than Laine thus far. Good centers are really hard to draft or obtain via trade. |

Laine is definitely the better offensive player than PLD, but PLD is a much more well-rounded player, plus he’s a top six center.
Decent wingers are always easier to obtain than true top six centers, so unless Roslovic turns out to be a legit #2C I’m giving a slight edge to WPG. Slight. |

I also think Laine is currently injured and Winnipeg has shown they can play well without him. I don't think Laine will last on CBJ with their current system.
I agree. Roslovic will be a good 3rd line player. He might be able to cut it as a 2nd line player if he is held up by his linemates. The more I think about it PLD definitely was the best player in the trade. I think Laine gets traded by the offseason. |

I have been pondering this since yesterday. If JR and the coaching staff wants to be harder to play against. What about a trade with Chicago for Zadorov and Shaw? Both would bring some grit and checking to the team. Shaw would bring checking, grit, and the net front presence we lost with Hornqvist. It would also make us a bit tougher to play against.
I know they aren't house hold names like Kane would be, but still would bring something different to the team. |

My preference would be to bring in the grit via a player who also can play hockey. Zadorov sucks. |

Lines from today
Guentzel-Crosby-Rodrigues
McCann-Malkin-Rust
Zucker-Blueger-Kapanen
Tanev-Jankowski-Sceviour
I mean, while Zucker looks like a demotion, I kind of like that third line. That could be a seriously fast line. |

I'm all for that, but I'm honestly not mad at these lines. I'm more curious to see how they work. Zucker with Kap on the same line could seriously give teams fits. |

The lines are fine except for one glaring sore thumb.
Crosby is quite the trooper to put up with this blatant sabotage. |

So having a bad player justifies getting another bad player? Why don’t we just stop getting bad players all together? |

If that third line clicks, it would be awesome to get Crosby under center on it. Give Guentzel to the Malkin line and then McCann-Blueger-Tanev. Have a scrub 4th line and limit the poop out of their minutes. |

It will be interesting how shaw does after a year and a half off. See if his style of play changed. I know aside from his concussion he was thankful to have time to heal his whole body from his rough style of play.
I think for zadorov the call falls to reirden. I know he isn’t the greatest once a cycle gets going but I feel he could be an asset in front of our own net. I think much like MM he would need to be with a high iq player to work together but if his style could mesh with Marino I would do it.
That and give O’Connor the first call up in the bottom 6.
Also agreed on sully going and this is an interesting lineup but at least it’s something! |
