I see Dallas has fans. Herd immunity will be quicker there now,

Final summary is up. Chicago goaltending was way better tonight, only allowing one goal on 31 shots. The power play continued its success. Detroit wasnā€™t ready for this one.

Dylan Larkin gave Detroit fans their only glimpse of positive flow tonight. In the third period, he did what he could to become a one man show and had a beautiful drive to the net and waited for the goalie to drop. Other than that, the Chicago netminder had the best performance of the young season for the Blackhawks. Only one goal allowed with over 30 shots on net. My prediction was as far off as you can get. None of what Detroit had accomplished thus far followed them into this game. The anemic power play was the only familiar portion. Chicago was ready, they were hungry, and they executed. Detroit didnā€™t check any of those boxes. Will give props to Marc Staal for saving a goal and setting up Larkinā€™s lone tally. Bobby Ryan was doing everything he could, but this team could not be carried to victory. I can only hope that 2 days of indigestion stuck in hotel quarantine will have the Red Wings ready to come out swinging on Sunday. As it stands, Chicago could sweep this one if tonight was any indication.

Gentlemen (insert Charles Emerson Winchester, the "thuuud" voice here)....

That was an embarrassing game. Larkin was Larkin, BertBuzzi buzzed, Ryan was close but off, Namesntnikov didn't quit.....but the D looked abysmal. Even Hronkek coughed up errant passes. Staal got lucky on the pass to Larkin that generated the goal - luck it was the 1st pass that connected to anything other than a Hawk, or inter-stellar space.

Losing Zadina sucks, but we have to be ready to react to enemy contact by players getting reps (see my previous discussion about Battle Drills...). Line-Mix-Bingo ain't working, need to go back to what worked early on this year, pull guys up when someone goes down the fill the 3d & 4th lines with TS guys. Rehearse, Rehearse, Rehearse.

TS guys are allowed to practice so there's zero excuse for those guys not having familiarity with whatever "game plan" is supposed to be in place. Smith has yet to see ice time, last night would've been a good time to get him in along with Lindstrom. Instead, names were put in a Veg-O-Matic and regurgitated to form a line up.

Other than the noted exceptions above, tonight was a flashback to the last 5 years - and I need xanax to deal with the memories šŸ˜‘šŸ¤Ø.

Am off to VA to go back to the office for work next week, recording games to watch when I come home (pissed the wife off, but it's the WINGS!!). I think the guys will have a hard look at their individual effort, but until routine lines are played, guys get rehearsal reps, and talent is allocated properly, this will be a knife-fight of a season.

GERGES: STOP. BEING. RIGHT. šŸ˜”šŸ¤¬.
Cheers!

It will depend what Columbus can get for Laine once he wants out of there too. I can't see Laine being happy with Torts as a coach or signing long term in Columbus.
