This season is getting Leafy already. Two thirds of our top line hurt plus Robertson.

We can get by without 2 of the 3.

Losing Matthews is going to hurt a lot though.

Forgive me, but I wasn't terribly concerned about losing Thornton.

He was probably going to get bounced after five games anyways.

Slow 'buzz day, so it's time for Wedgie to get the party started.

Here's the game (which will be played in four parts).

You are at a Leafs away game. They have a draw where you can get a personalized jersey of any player from the home team in history - and your seat is the lucky one.

What player do you get?

Today will be the Northern Division:

Montreal: Guy Lafleur. Smoked darts on the bench, drank like a fish, was still the most exciting player of the era.

Ottawa: this is a tough one. I think I'll go with Chris Neil - hated him as a Senator, would have loved him as a Leaf. Tough, dirty - but not in a chickenpoop way. And he had a little bit of skill.

Winnipeg (and yes, you can get a player from Jets v1.0): Nothing here really jumps out at me. I was trying to think if they had a really good goon back in the day. I guess I'll go with Hawerchuk here. Definitely not Tkachuk - that's for sure.

Calgary: Tempting to go Gilmour, but Lanny McDonald is the right decision here. Also considered Al MacInnis.

Edmonton: the obvious one is Gretzky, of course. A Paul Coffey would be cool.

Vancouver: Lots of interesting choices here. A Richard Brodeur would be cool - my brother was at the game where he got his ear ripped off at MLG. But I think I'm going to go with Trevor Linden here - total hockey player.

Bonus: Quebec Nordiques: many will be tempted by Sakic or Sundin, but it's gotta be Dale Hunter.

To quote Ek, "what say you?"

- Atomic Wedgie

Montreal - I'd probably ask the guy beside me to buy me some beers in exchange for whatever player he wanted or I guess make a quick call to my step father and ask him which player he want's because I will not be wearing a Habs jersey...nor do I want to own one!

Ottawa - almost as much / maybe more than Montreal - Just to be a troll I'll take a Yashin and when I wear it to the game wait to be on TV only to peel it off to show my Leaf's jersey underneath while I use the Sens jersey to wipe the mustard and beer off my face.

The Peg - I have a Hawerchuck already, I'd probably have to go with one of the 2 members of the infamous "Pokey and the Bandit" goaltending duo of Pokey RedRichard or Daniel Berthiaume.

Calgary - Mister Moustache.....Lanny simply because he was a great Flame and Leaf + I met him at the Leafs outdoor game in Toronto and got a very blurry selfie because, well I was blurry from a great day of drinking and hockey and I'm pretty sure he was feeling no pain either. Toronto peeps - fun fact, our whole crew managed to get onto CP24 pre game (we took a limo down from Barrie - we were already well oiled by the time we got to the stadium) for an interview. I was "Leaf Santa" and kept referring to myself in that 3rd person manner a la Jimmy from Seinfeld. It seemed funny at the time and in my head

Edmonton - I'd have to go with Fuhr, hands down, being that he is one of my goal tending idols.

Vancouver - Ugh not a full out puke but puked a bit in my mouth here....I'll go with Captain Kirk! Goalies Unite represent! Alternatively maybe a Frank Caprice because I worked with him a few years ago.

Quebec - HEXTALL, ALL DAY LONG!

I've contacted the president of the goalie union to review his membership and apply the appropriate punishment!

Robertson is of no concern, sucks for him missing out on the opportunity...but he'll be back.
Its too bad about Joe, but he can be replaced, we have the depth. Honestly at his age, I was kinda expecting him to miss some of the season anyway.

Losing Matthews is a big hole, but its only for a few games I believe.

Talk to your shop steward....file a grievance....check your medical benefits to see if replacement hips and knees are covered.

I know my one hip is going to need to be replaced within the next 5 years or so....I am going to ask for 2 new bionic ones so I can do the splits again like all those damm kids who keep walking across my lawn!

i know it isnt. i think its stupid hes hurt, i dont like seeing matthews out. I will however say the stink is only because its matthews?!? gallagher gets hit like that every single game, he hasnt missed a beat. Look at the videos of chara crosschecking gally... no one was saying to make changes then, why is it now suddenly a big deal?

Calling bullpoop on this one.

There's been a large contingent of hockey fans who have called out the crosscheck in front of the net for years.

From Chara to Pronger to...Jamie Macoun.

The thing that sucks for Robertson the most is him not getting to go to the world jrs. Wasn’t allowed to go for fear of injury and competing for a spot on the leafs.

Poor guy doesn’t get in the first game then gets injured 1 period in and never did get a chance at the gold medal.

It was a mutual decision - Robertson's camp didn't want to go, either.

Gallagher works hard to earn those cross-checks, because he's a pretty big female genitalia. Kind of a difference...

Gallagher himself seems to act like a good cross-check is confirmation he's doing his job well.
