The thing I noticed most is that he looks really short. If he was 6' would people be more excited by him? AV seems to have confidence in him
- Dkos

He didn’t play bad. And agree I do he was 6 foot 200 pounds he would be a regular this year.

Any of the Patrick haters watch all the defensive plays he made last night. His d game is far advanced for his age. See coots at same age. His offense will blossom.
- Peter Richards

Wait, I think you mean "mush head", the guy that's never playing again. Right?

Thank you for explaining your reasoning ... before you insulted me :-) I agree with everything you stated here. I just sum it up as they are a slow team, that loses races to the puck and many puck battles. Now I don't mean to imply they have slow players, but just watching the game it just appears that the other team is skating circles around them, possibly because of the all the points you have raised here, and a few more. In the end I hope we can agree that right now, the Flyers are not playing good hockey and its frustrating to watch.
- jd250

Speaking the truth is not insulting. So you're hesitantly moving away from what you've been saying towards what the actual reality is. Remember, according to what you repeatedly keep saying the issue is, that cannot be fixed without changing the makeup of the roster significantly. So remember when you see things change, who said what.

His defensive game has always been solid. We need more from him in carrying the puck and making plays.

Nah, Friedman is an AHL/slash NHL depth defenseman.

I really hope you are right, because I think Fletcher would love nothing more than to get out from under Jake's contract. The same for JVR. I would rather spend $10M on an elite offensive player than what we are currently spending for these two.
- jd250

What elite offensive players make it to free agency ? And when they do how many stay that way ie Jeff Skinner.

Fletcher likely would love to get out of one because we have young players on cheaper deals to replace them with and more young players incoming to re sign. Seattle won't have that luxury.

Damn that’s scary about Friedman. Falling on your butt with hockey pants hurts. Couldn’t imagine falling face first. Ice is hard!

9M for Jeff Skinner! Don't do it!

Have to keep in mind that Seattle is going to have to put a product on the ice. It's a business. They're going to need some players that can produce offensively somewhat. I think a number of GM's learned a bunch of lessons with the last round of expansion. Seattle is going to need some "name" players. Not just a bunch of pluggers.

Absolutely. I just think it's crazy that fans think that a team who didn't get hit with a pandemic and isn't financially restrained is going to shy away from good players. Or that Seattle is going to chose fans whipping boy Robert hagg over a legitimate scorer or playmaker. Like Seattle hasnt spent the past 2 seasons scouting and plotting for this moment.

I agree with you. If the Flyers leave Jake Voracek unprotected, the chances are pretty good that he'll be playing for Seattle.

The conversation becomes more important after tomorrows game. If they are chasing the game and get handled then there is a growing issue. If the win and play well, it is the beginning of the and they are finding their way.

Back to Backs bring things in focus quicker.

Like G's game last night, hope his confidence is up. He needs to be one the best players on the ice tomorrow night.

Here is the thing in my view. Around the NHL, teams are struggling to find their way. Really we're in a "pre-season" where the game count. Teams are going to get better and get more cohesive. However we've already seen some of what you allude to . They have that horrendous game against Buffalo then come back with a better performance in the next game. Cohesiveness and team play are one thing. Lack of competitiveness and urgency are another. The start of the 3rd period in the Boston game was just a continuation of the first Buffalo game. Same issue. They had to know that Boston was going to push at the drop of the puck in the 3rd. They didn't match Boston's intensity. If they had, it might have been a regulation win.

I am not moving away from my position that the Flyers as currently constituted are not good enough to be serious contenders. I am not moving away from my position that the Flyers lack elite top-end talent. I am not moving away from my observation that they are a slow, sloppy, and at times stupid team. However, I try to be open-minded and see other perspectives, and I surely do agree with your perspectives about what you see as the problems. All I was pointing out in the previous post (and note I put a smiley on that) was that I was thankful you actually explained yourself versus just shooting down my opinion with insults like "the crazies are out" or stating "your wrong" without explaining how. And if/when things change you will get full credit from me, and I will be happy to give it you, because we want the same thing, for the Flyers to finally win!

You really want a player like Dubois who bails on his team? No thanks ...
