Except Ottawa did not, they took way less for him. PLD is a really nice player and Columbus should shoot for the moon for him, but I just feel like some of the asks are massive overpayments. They won't take Strome straight up and it probably would cost at least kravstov in addition, but some of these packages are what I would start asking in a package for someone like Eichel who is several times better than PLD.

I know people overvalue their own prospects, but there's no way in my mind PLD is worth that much. If another team offers a similar amount, they can have him.

I'm ok with losing Kravs and Lundkvist. The protected 1st is an incentive to take Strome. We are so deep now on wing and defense, neither of those guys will hurt.

Exactly. If we can get him for a REASONABLE package, all for it.
I don't consider 5 assets, or maybe even 4, a reasonable package for a 2C. Whatever he MIGHT become in the future.
If someone else wants to upset to balance of their roster to acquire him, have at it.

Another side in this, do we want someone who the minute things don't go the way he wants he stops trying and packs it in?

People could say its all an act to get out but what if he comes here and butts heads with the coach also.

Not saying he would but its just another piece to this whole puzzle.

Nothing wrong with that sentiment, but if I'm including point in a trade, I'm getting someone better.

I think you have to consider the dynamic here though, this is Torts, even though I love Torts, some fine players over the years have clashed with him

But you can't. No one on the market and very rare a young center comes up on the market like this. Could always wait for Barkov but that is going to be a crazy bidding war if he makes it to UFA .

Why do you want to keep Strome so bad?

Character definitely will be a question when talking about trade value. I know if I was a GM inquiring, I would mention such points to persuade his value down in my trade offer.
It's difficulty to gauge because Torts is so polarizing as well. There are some players that do not respond well at all to his style.
I think the push for him is so great because the Rangers are in such need for a center. May be emotional more than rational because of the current play of the Rangers.

Fair point. I am just throwing out there if we are going to trade 4-5 good/great assets we better get someone who doesn't pull that crap

I don't even know if I'd be so hung ho about acquiring Dubois if it wasn't for Lafreniere

I just think Dubois is the absolute perfect center for him, match made in heaven

Even that is somewhat false. We know at some point Tampa has to shed salary, Willy N and Eichel have both been thrown around in rumor mills. That's not even including whatever teams like Calgary and the Jets do.

Again PLD is a nice player, if someone wants to trade the moon for them let them.

Fortunately JD is on our side now and knows PLD's true character, probably better than any other front office

Guess it depends on what you consider the moon. Lundkvist right now isn't signed and would be our 3rd defenseman on the right side for a good amount of time. Plus the Rangers just drafted Schneider who I also believe is a right side defenseman. Where are you going to play all these guys? Its the perfect time to deal Lundkvist.

Same goes for Krav and the winger depth.

I mean I like prospects as much as the next guy, but when you deal from a place of strength you aren't hurting the team.
