I fear that Rielly will want to go to the Canucks. - Atomic Wedgie
I like Rielly a lot, but LHD depth is something we have... I would move him for someone like PLD |

Tavares is not the problem no matter what Steve Simmons says. - PatC80
The problem is they can only allocate so much money to certain types of players. Leafs dont need another C, they need D. |

Willy literally stayed tf home when he didnt like what was being offered, PLD took a contract so he could start on time, and he probably just (frank)ing hates torts and hates playing in CLB. - Arctic_AARDVARK
So what you are saying is it looks better on a player to get paid and quit on his team, but still get the money? |

So you're admitting Nylander is getting more responsible with experience and Dubois is getting worse, agreed. |

I have a good history working for bumhole bosses. Everyone's different.
I like when a boss holds guys accountable, it weeds out the weak and undeserving ones. But many ppl cant hack it. |

Hyman has been the best player on the Leafs this season so far.
Last 3-4 seasons has been one of the best players as well.
But sure -- let's get rid of a 29 y old player because you feel 'his style' doesn't age well..
let me tell you this - hyman isn't your typical guy that is a hitter - in fact, he almost never hits. instead -- he uses his body really well to absorb hits. there aren't too many players that have that specific style. imo hyman has earned a 4x4mlnAAV+ contract for sure. would be stupid not to give him that after haveing gifted kapanen, johnsson and kerfoot with similar aav deals - all players way less important than hyman. - MaximusAurelius
Matthews says 🙄 |

trade rielly before floating willie?? - MaximusAurelius
the part of the conversation that is not being spelled out is this: PLD has 1 year left at $5m after this one.
Rielly has 1 year left at $5m after this one.
Hyman's deal @ $2.75m expires this year.
Nylander has 3 years left @ $6.9M after this year.
PLD is going to want in excess of $7m after next season. So is Rielly. Hyman is going to want probably $4m - $5m based on recent comparables. None of those are contracts Toronto can afford, especially since the cap is not likely to go up.
Saying that Clb would be interested, if you deal Nylander for PLD, you get $2m in 2021 and 2022 relief, but in 2023 you're probably back in the same problem or worse. Especially if you resigned Rielly.
I get what Pat is saying.
I'm not adverse to trading Willy for a player like PLD, but I'd be concerned about the coming cap ramifications. |

The word on the street is that 99% of players love playing for him.

I don't mind a "rough but fair" approach.
But respect must always remain for a workplace to be successful.
Tortorella obviously ends up crossing that line in every coaching job he's had. |

I'll take your word for it. I can only confirm that Lecavalier and Martin St-Louis really liked him.

Mmmm not yet.
Id have Sandin in the lineup rn. If he doesnt look as good as Romanov does, then we can have that discussion. But lets give it 20ish games first. |

The problem Tortorella has is that he believes in public shaming as a method. It's a terrible tool to use in virtually any situation. It tears away trust and creates irreparable damage in a relationship. |

PLD isnt what the Leafs need, so no point in even talking about it. He'll probably goto NYI or LA or some team like Dallas who we'd never predict. |

I think we have more LHD depth then we do C depth.. I like Kerfoot and Rielly a lot.. If Matthews or Tavares get injured, is Kerfoot good enough to fill in on one of the top 2 lines? |
