It all comes down to what he asks for... If he wants the $5M per year deal, he's as good as gone, if it is for $3M, I think he stays..

Yeah. I think I'm overly optimistic, but I am hoping they can swing a 1 year @ $2.5m, but I doubt the cap goes up too much in the 2022 season either since they'll still be recovering from this one and the previous one.

I'll be honest, it's not about the one shift.. Nylander for Dubois is an overpay. I would move Rielly before I move Nylander..

Rielly will ask for, and probably get a salary increase. If we can get a defenseman like Savard back as part of a bigger trade, it's better than trading Nylander for Dubois one for one

Willy literally stayed tf home when he didnt like what was being offered, PLD took a contract so he could start on time, and he probably just (frank)ing hates torts and hates playing in CLB.

Hyman has been the best player on the Leafs this season so far.
Last 3-4 seasons has been one of the best players as well.
But sure -- let's get rid of a 29 y old player because you feel 'his style' doesn't age well..
let me tell you this - hyman isn't your typical guy that is a hitter - in fact, he almost never hits. instead -- he uses his body really well to absorb hits. there aren't too many players that have that specific style. imo hyman has earned a 4x4mlnAAV+ contract for sure. would be stupid not to give him that after haveing gifted kapanen, johnsson and kerfoot with similar aav deals - all players way less important than hyman.
