I guess it really depends how their replacements perform.
- VanHockeyGuy

Whatever happens...happens. Need to move on from Edler just like Tanev for this club to take the next step.

My guess is we'll be seeing Taxi squad D get more games with this schedule. Which is good for Canuck depth development.

But at the end of the day the consistent play needs to come from the vet D. That's how this team can scale the heights of the Division.

You've touted that all last season. But it takes time to develop, or timely trades, to get a new top 4. Edler will play a role in that transition in this last season of his no doubt.

For some reason I always thought he was about three inches shorter.

Watching him last year on the Comets you could see is a very smart defender that thinks the game. He was fast enough to outskate his mistakes . They used him in key situations . With OJ and Rafferty grabbing the headlines it was easy to forget that the Comets had 4 good AHL defenders.

We all got to see what Sautner looked like and I think Briesbois is just as good as Sautner.

Chatfield always looked like a good Stecher replacement . I think Briesbois could step in to replace Benn and Fantenberg (KHL now).I hope they take a look.

He should be seriously considered, as this team struggles defensively, so why put in Rafferty or Rathbone, who have some questions defensively.

Development at the cost of playoffs if the vets are out for a significant amount of time.

No. He has been consistently saying this for about 3 years now.

Thanks Carol

If Gudbranson lights it up when Ottawa comes to town then we'll know for sure that it's a curse.

Gudbranson looks like McDavid, speedwise, compared to Edler.

I think so too. I always say it does not hurt to take a look. I am onside with Vintsy look at the young guys . It is a big decision year for the team .

If the forwards could play defence as a unit maybe guys like Rathbone and Raffy could get some minutes.

Not many of the Canucks fans, in my neck of the woods, would be upset if Canucks give as many players as possible, a shot in this fucked up season.
No one wants to see Loui or Sven ever again, so play everyone, including Bailey and Michaelis

100%

Problem is though Green is playing for his job and I guess Benning also. As much as it is the right thing to do Aquilini might not agree with us.

This. And the fact that we don’t exactly have a bunch of blue chip prospects being held back atm.

Why do they need to be blue chip prospect?
This team need better players to fill out #5/6/7defense and bottom 6 forwards.
Imo the top 6, with the right 3rd wheel, is decent enough to be pretty competitive.

The prospects that deserved NHL spots got them. Hoglander, OJ and now with Chatfield.

We have Podz and we have a few others with NHL skill.

I think most of the young high end skill players are already on the team . If you are able to replace Edlers defending with a young cheap Briesbois that will develop into a good third line pairing .

Don't forget when Edler started with the Canucks there was lots of holes in his game too. Briesbois is about the same size as Edler and looks similar to Edlers start, Drafted in the same round too.

Wasn't Rafferty the 3rd highest scoring Dman in the AHL last year? Or are you just referring to how he did at training camp?

The reason why Brisebois gets no respect here is because he isn't shiny enough and Benning raved about him for a couple years, similar to Chatfield.
The kid was Utica's best defenseman last year, he has earned a longer look.
