considering everything you would still do that trade? (frank) that, at this point I'd rather keep Danault and Caufield - Pat1993
Danault is gone at the end of the year ( book it, with Suzuki play's no way we give Danault the money he wants)
At that rate our first will be far in he first round
then, I like Caufield but I mean you have to give to get ! |

Um... Drouin is a bad example.
How many of you would reverse that trade? |

That must have been a pretty awful year for rookies... |

Drouin had a bad attitude and Habs still took a chance.
PLD might be looking like this but why have Bob,Panarin,Duschene all leave? Something is wrong there.
At the end, I’m taking PLD ANYTIME Ain an Habs jersey - MONSTERSofMETALZ
Three of those guys left to UFA for huge deals... |

this is surely how every other team feels - Pat1993
I said from the beginning I would only offer a poop sandwich as it isn't the Habs job to solve the Jackets problems. I suggested Danault and Kulak for a cap space fit and then a lotto protected pick and a B level prospect. Nothing makes me want to make that offer better |

Myers was actually pretty god damn dominant in his rookie year.
He just.... never posted similar numbers afterwards.

I don't think that's true.
I gave the Duchene example.
Could have used the Drouin one as well.
GM's aren't bullied by players asking for trades anymore. - Scabeh
Those situations were not nearly as bad |

Myers had his best season as a rookie (a fantastic year for any defender). It's kind of funny if you look at the whole situation. |

Joe Sakic endured Matt Duchene for a year after the latter asked for a trade.
Everyone kept saying Joe was ruining his value, that he was a terrible GM and that he'd end up with nothing.
He ended up with Girard and Byram. - Scabeh
So as I've said from the start, not the Habs problem. Don't be Ottawa oe Nashville is the lesson there |

Drouin decided to stop playing at one point Obie.
Then had to come back because Yzerman wouldn't oblige.

Which is why he doesn't have much value in a trade.
I think Columbus would be asking for at least: one of Suzuki or Kotkaniemi, plus other assets. I don't think there is any move to be made that doesn't look sideways for the Habs here. Plus, they would have to send some salary the other way to fit Dubois' contract under the cap. |

The way these things tend to work out, Dubois is bound for the Wild, Panthers or Devils. |

Well he was a former third overall who was seen as a valuable asset, asking for a trade, in a difficult relationship with the team who was told to (frank) off until he was traded for a another valuable asset.
How is it different?

funny thing is PAt was implying I was offering too much you are saying its not enough
I know Danault value is not thru the roof, that why I said + 1st round 2021 + our first selection in 2019 |

I think it stems from Monsters post that the habs took a chance on Drouin.
Being that he's literally done (frank) all, makes him a bad example..
